Avi Mograbi et son ami de toujours, Ali,
entreprennent un voyage vers une terre
d’avant la définition des frontières. Un
monde qui a réellement existé, même
si beaucoup et surtout les politiciens
le nient. Un monde où les communautés
n’étaient pas divisées par des critères
religieux et ethniques. Où les être
humains cohabitaient. C’est avec leurs
propres histoires que débute l’aventure
d’Avi et d’Ali dans les méandres du
temps. En évoquant les souvenirs d’une
époque révolue, ils réalisent qu’ils partagent
beaucoup et admettent ce qu’ils
ont perdu en cours de route. Au cours du
périple sur une terre, qui leur appartient
à tous deux, ils redécouvrent les endroits
auxquels ils n’ont jamais cessé d’aspirer.
Ils continuent donc à partager des histoires
et des souvenirs tandis que la réalité
de l’environnement raconte une toute
autre histoire. Mais la terre est toujours
là, comme les hommes. Par conséquent,
tout est encore possible. Le film d’Avi
Mograbi est un rappel poignant et émouvant
d’une époque et d’un lieu, qui donne
l’impression d’entrer dans une machine
à remonter le temps. Caméra à l’épaule,
Avi Mograbi continue de s’interroger sur
l’histoire d’Israël et sur son héritage.
Avi Mograbi und sein Freund Ali begeben
sich zusammen auf die Reise in ein
Land, das vor der Errichtung von Grenzen
existierte. Eine Welt, die es wirklich

dass dem nicht so ist. Eine Welt,

aufgespalten waren. In der die
Menschen zusammenlebten. Das Abenteuer
von Avi und Ali in den Abgründen
der Zeit beginnt mit ihrer eigenen
Geschichte. Sie lassen ihre ersten Erinnerungen
an diese Epoche wieder aufleben
und erkennen, dass sie vieles
gemeinsam haben, sehen aber auch,
was verloren wurde. Auf dem Weg durch
ihr Land entdecken sie Orte wieder,
denen ihre Sehnsucht immer gegolten
hat. Und so teilen sie Geschichten und
Erinnerungen, während die sie umgebende
Realität eine andere Geschichte
erzählt. Doch das Land ist immer noch
da, und auch die Menschen. Und aus
diesem Grund ist noch immer alles möglich.
Avi Mograbis Film ist eine ergreifende
Rückerinnerung an eine andere
Zeit und einen anderen Ort, der das
Gefühl vermittelt, in einer Zeitmaschine
zu reisen. Mit einer leichten Handkamera
setzt Mograbi seine Hinterfragung der
Geschichte Israels und ihres Erbes fort.
Avi Mograbi and his long-time friend Ali
embark together on a journey to a land
that existed before borders were created.
A world that really existed, even
though most of the people and especially
politicians pretend it never did. A world
where communities were not divided into
religious and ethnic communities. Where
people lived together. Avi and Ali’s
adventure in the creases of time begins
with their own histories. While recalling
their first memories of this past era, they
realise they share a lot and recognise
what they have lost along the way. As
they walk across the land that belongs
to them both, they discover once again
all the places they have never stopped
yearning for. So they continue sharing
stories and memories while the reality of
their surroundings tells a different story.
But the land is still there and so are the
people. Therefore everything is still possible.
Avi Mograbi’s film is a poignant and
touching recollection of a different time
and place that feels like moving inside
a time machine. With a light hand held
camera, Mograbi continues to question
the history of Israel and its legacy.
