Après le naufrage de leur existence, des
personnes se retrouvent dans un lieu
d’accueil et de rencontre. Parmi eux, un
inconnu. On l’appelle Ulysse. Il a connu la
drogue, la prison, le vagabondage. Puis,
un jour, il repart. Personne ne sait où il a
disparu. De temps en temps, quelqu’un
croit l’avoir vu. Quelqu’un, qui l’a connu,
parle de lui. Un autre a vécu et vit ce
qu’Ulysse a vécu. « Peut-être qu’Uysse
est un personnage qu’ils inventent pour
parler de ce qu’ils vivent : de leur retour,
improbable, rêvé, vers une vie vécue une
deuxième fois, où il faut se raconter, à
travers un film à faire, pour exister. Ils
affabulent, mais ils ne sont pas vraiment
là. Comme le héros homérique Ulysse,
ils sont toujours entre deux étapes
de leur vie » (GC). L’Italie qui « n’existe
pas » dans les images des médias,
celle maudite et oubliée des laisséspour-compte,
se montre dans toute
son impudique innocence à la caméra
de Giovanni Cioni. Des hommes et des
femmes chantent, chuchotent, hurlent.
Ils montrent que l’humanité n’est pas
perdue. Un film visionnaire et poétique
qui renvoie à l’œuvre documentaire de
Pasolini et Bellocchio. Une œuvre triste
et vitale qui chante le deuil du monde.
Nach ihrem existenziellen Schiffbruch
finden sich mehrere Personen in einem
Aufnahmezentrum wieder. Darunter ein
Unbekannter. Man nennt ihn Odysseus.
Er hatte mit Drogen, Gefängnis und
Obdachlosigkeit zu tun. Eines Tages
bricht er wieder auf. Niemand weiss,
wohin. Man meint, ihn gesehen zu haben.
Jemand der ihn kannte, spricht von ihm.
Ein anderer durchlebt, was auch Odysseus’
Schicksal prägte. «Odysseus ist
möglicherweise eine erfundene Figur,
um von dem zu sprechen, was sie erlebten:
Ihrer geträumten Rückkehr in ein
erneut gelebtes Leben, in dem man
sich erzählen muss, um zu existieren.
Sie fabulieren, aber sie sind nicht wirklich
anwesend. Wie Homers Odysseus
befinden sie sich permanent zwischen
zwei Etappen ihres Lebens» (GC). Das
verfluchte, vergessene Italien der Ausgestossenen,
das es in den Bildern der
Medien «nicht gibt», zeigt sich in seiner
ganzen unkeuschen Unschuld vor der
Kamera Giovanni Cionis. Männer und
Frauen, die singen, flüstern, schreiben.
Die zeigen, dass die Menschheit nicht
verloren ist. Ein visionärer und poetischer
Film, der die Dokumentarfilme Pasolinis
und Bellocchios in Erinnerung ruft. Ein
trauriges, lebenswichtiges Werk und ein
Trauergesang auf die Welt.
After the collapse of their existence,
people gather in a meeting and welcome
centre. Among them comes a
stranger. They call him Ulysse. He has
experienced drugs, prison and homelessness.
Then one day he leaves. No
one knows where he has gone. From
time to time, someone thinks they have
seen him. Someone who knew him talks
about him. Another has lived, is living,
what Ulysse has lived. “Perhaps Ulysse
is a character that they have invented to
talk about what they are living through:
about their return, improbable, dreamed
of, to a second chance at life, where you
have to tell yourself stories, through a
film to be made, so as to exist. They are
inventing stories, but they are not really
there. Like the Homeric hero Ulysses,
they are always between two stages of
their life” (GC). The Italy that “does not
exist” in media images – the cursed and
forgotten Italy of the socially excluded –
reveals itself in all its indecent innocence
to Giovanni Cioni’s camera. Men and
women sing, whisper and shout, showing
that humanity is not lost. A visionary,
poetic film referencing the documentary
work of Pasolini and Bellocchio. A
vibrant work that puts the sadness of the
world to song.
