Le film fait partie du projet collectif
«Visions of Europe» commandé par
l’Union européenne et piloté par 25 réalisateurs
des Etats membres. Dans
l’œuvre de Pakalnina, différentes personnes
se tiennent immobiles devant
la caméra tandis que nous écoutons
les bruits de la rue. Le plan ne dure
qu’un instant et crée ce que l’on pourrait
définir comme une «image fixe en
mouvement ». Des enfants, un jeune
couple, une famille, un groupe d’amis
ou de collègues. La dernière femme qui
passe devant l’objectif montre un album
photo et un CD. « J’ai toujours pensé
qu’il n’était pas excessif de dire ‘ça ira’
en observant le visage des gens. On
m’a proposé de faire un film juste avant
l’élargissement de l’Union européenne
en 2004. Pour être précise, j’ai été invitée
à faire un court métrage sur ce que
je voulais. Et j’ai décidé que ce serait ce
film. Et le message que j’essaie de faire
passer à travers ce film est celui-ci : ne
vous inquiétez pas, ça ira; nous sommes
tous des êtres humains ordinaires, nous
nous ressemblons tous ! Et, pour vous
dire la vérité, ça va très bien comme ça.
Et ça ira encore mieux ! » (LP)
Der Film ist Teil des von der Europäischen
Union in Auftrag gegebenen
Gemeinschaftsprojekts «Visions of
Europe», an dem 25 Regisseure und
Regisseurinnen aus den Mitgliedstaaten
beteiligt waren. In Pakalninas Arbeit
stehen unterschiedliche Menschen
unbeweglich vor der Kamera, im Hintergrund
sind Strassengeräusche zu
hören. Die Aufnahme dauert nur einige
Augenblicke und erzeugt etwas, das als
bewegtes Standbild bezeichnet werden
könnte. Kinder, ein junges Paar, eine
Familie, eine Gruppe Freunde oder Kollegen.
Die letzte porträtierte Frau hält ein
Fotoalbum und eine CD. «Ich war immer
der Meinung, dass es nie zu viel ist zu
sagen ‘Alles wird gut’ und den Leuten
ins Gesicht zu sehen. Der Vorschlag,
diesen Film zu drehen, wurde mir direkt
vor der Erweiterung der EU im Jahr
2004 gemacht. Genauer gesagt war ich
eingeladen, einen Kurzfilm nach meinen
Vorstellungen zu machen. Und ich habe
beschlossen, dass es dieser Film sein
wird. Was ich mit diesem Film vermitteln
möchte ist: Keine Sorge, alles wird gut.
Wir sind ganz normale Menschen, die
Ihnen sehr ähnlich sind! Tatsächlich ist
alles gut. Und wird sogar noch besser
werden!» (LP)
The film is part of the collective project
“Visions of Europe”, commissioned by
the European Union and carried out by
25 directors from the member states. In
Pakalnina’s work various people stand
still in front of the camera while we listen
to street noises. The shot lasts just
a moment, and creates what can possibly
be defined as “moving still picture”.
Children, a young couple, a family,
a group of friends or colleagues. The
last portrayed woman features a photo
album and a CD. “I have always thought
that it can never be too much to say ‘It’ll
be fine’ and look into people’s faces. I
was approached with an offer to make
this film right before the enlargement of
the European Union in 2004. To be precise,
I was invited to make a short film
whichever I wanted. And I decided that
it will be this film. And what I am trying
to communicate with this film is – don’t
worry, it’ll be fine; we are ordinary human
beings, very similar to you! And, to tell
the truth, it is fine. But it’ll be even better!”
