Taxis de nuit. Assis à l’arrière, dans
l’intimité qu’offre cette situation, nous
sommes entraînés hors des sentiers
battus par un chauffeur qui dévoile l’une
de ses aventures sexuelles passées,
avec une cliente. Au fil des différents
récits des conducteurs de taxi, la nuit se
révèle un univers empli de fantasmes et
d’odeurs, de récits inavoués, d’un temps
suspendu. Et dans l’anonymat rendu
possible par la pénombre et par l’agencement
même du taxi apparaissent
certaines fêlures, des moments d’égarement
que les chauffeurs ont pu vivre et
une crainte lancinante d’être emmenés
vers l’obscurité. Les voix trahissent des
origines, des âges, des parcours de vie.
A travers elles s’ébauche aussi l’atmosphère
si particulière de la nuit, entre
moiteur et opacité ; un monde à part.
L’image, d’une très grande précision,
livre tantôt des détails de l’intérieur des
véhicules, tantôt des impressions nocturnes
extérieures, par petites touches
parfois colorées et abstraites, d’une
grande sensualité.
Taxis in der Nacht. Wir sitzen auf der
Rückbank und erleben in der aus dieser
Situation entstehenden Intimität mit
einem Taxifahrer, der von einem sexuellen
Abenteuer mit einer Kundin erzählt,
eine nicht alltägliche Fahrt. Im Laufe
der Erzählungen mehrerer Taxifahrer
entpuppt sich die Nacht als Welt voller
Fantasien, Gerüche und uneingestandener
Erlebnisse, als eine angehaltene
Zeit. In der Anonymität des Dämmerlichts
und der Aufteilung des Taxis tun
sich Risse und Augenblicke der Verirrung
auf, die die Fahrer erlebt haben,
und es sickert die Angst durch, in die
Dunkelheit abzudriften. In den Stimmen
schwingen Herkunft, Alter und Lebenswege
mit. Und sie vermitteln einen Eindruck
der so besonderen, zwischen
Feuchte und Intransparenz schwankenden
Atmosphäre der Nacht eine eigene
Welt. Das sehr präzise Bild liefert in
kleinen, manchmal bunten, abstrakten
und sinnlichen Tupfern Details aus dem
Fahrzeuginneren und Eindrücke aus der
umgebenden Nacht.
Sitting in the back of taxis late at night,
in the privacy this situation affords us,
we take a walk on the wild side with a
driver who recounts one of his past sexual
encounters with a female customer.
As the different drivers’ narratives unfold,
the night reveals a universe filled with
the fantasies and scents of previously
unconfessed stories, where time stands
still. And in the anonymity made possible
by the dark and the layout of the taxi
itself, certain cracks appear, moments of
distraction that the drivers have experienced,
and a haunting fear of becoming
lost in the darkness. Their backgrounds,
ages and life stories are hinted at by
their voices. These voices sketch out the
distinctive atmosphere of the night, with
its mix of dampness and opaqueness, a
world apart. The extremely careful camera
work shifts focus between details of
the vehicles’ interiors and impressions of
the night outside, peppered by colourful
and abstract touches, suggesting a powerful
sensuality.
