Kiran vit avec sa mère. Celle-ci l’a élevé
à l’encontre de tout précepte d’éducation
autoritaire, suivant un modèle inspiré de
l’idéologie utopique ‘flower-power’ des
années 1960. La mère et son enfant
vivent loin de la ville, dans une yourte,
quelque part dans les Pyrénées. Kiran
fréquente une petite école mais s’y sent
mal à l’aise. Il rêve d’être ailleurs, là où
les gens vivent. Il a huit ans et sait planter
une salade, connaît les plantes des
prés qui ont bon goût et celles qu’il ne
faut pas manger. Mais il n’a aucune idée
de ce qui passe le soir à la télévision et
ne sait pas utiliser un ordinateur. Son
plus grand souhait serait d’aller dans
une école publique pour enfin apprendre
à lire et à écrire. Alors Kiran doit résister
à la volonté de sa mère et essayer de
lui faire comprendre ce que signifient
réellement les décisions qu’elle a prises
pour lui. Comment un choix d’éducation
libéral se transforme en une contrainte
autoritaire affectant la vie d’une autre
personne Kiran doit apprendre à se
libérer des règles dictées par sa mère
pour s’aventurer vers un monde inconnu
qui l’attend quelque part.
Kiran lebt bei seiner Mutter, die ihn im
antiautoritären Stil der Flower-Power-Ideologie
der 1960er-Jahre erzieht.
Mutter und Kind leben fern der Stadt
in einer Jurte irgendwo in den Pyrenäen,
und Kiran geht in eine kleine Schule,
fühlt sich dort aber unwohl. Er träumt
davon, woanders zu sein. Dort, wo alle
anderen sind. Er ist acht Jahre alt und
weiss, wie man Salat pflanzt, welche Wiesenpflanzen
gut schmecken und welche
man nicht essen sollte. Aber was abends
im Fernsehen läuft oder wie man einen
Computer bedient, weiss er nicht. Sein
innigster Wunsch ist es, in eine öffentliche
Schule zu gehen und endlich lesen
und schreiben zu lernen. Kiran muss
sich also den Wünschen seiner Mutter
widersetzen und versuchen, ihr klar zu
machen, was bei den Entscheidungen,
die sie für ihn getroffen hat, wirklich auf
dem Spiel steht. Wie kann eine antiautoritäre
Entscheidung zu etwas zutiefst
Autoritärem werden, das das Leben
eines anderen Menschen beeinträchtigt
Kiran muss lernen, sich von den Regeln
seiner Mutter zu befreien, und sich in
eine unbekannte Welt hinaus wagen, die
draussen auf ihn wartet.
Kiran lives with his mother, who has
brought him up in an anti-authoritarian
fashion that seems to go a long way
back to the utopian 1960’s of flowerpower
ideology. Mother and child live
far from the city in a yurt somewhere
in the Pyrenees and Kiran attends a
small school but feels ill-at-ease there.
He dreams to be elsewhere. Where
everybody else is. He is eight years old
and knows how to plant salad, which
meadow-plants taste good and which
you should not eat. But he has no idea
of what is going on in the evening on TV
and cannot deal with a computer. His
greatest wish is to go to a public school
to learn to read and write at last. So
Kiran has to step up against his mother’s
wishes, try to make her understand what
is really at stake in the choices she has
made for him. How does an anti-authoritarian
choice become a deeply authoritarian
one that affects the life of another
person Kiran has to learn how to break
free from his mother’s set of rules and
venture into an unknown world that is
waiting for him somewhere out there.
