Allen Ballenger<br />
Allen BALLENGER, 75, R.R. 3, <strong>Rochester</strong>, died at 7:10 p.m. Saturday in Woodlawn<br />
hospital where he had been admitted Saturday afternoon. He had been ill two days.<br />
Born Oct. 28, 1894, near Akron, he had lived his entire life in this area. His marriage<br />
was to Minnie P. SWARTZLANDER, in 1912. She survives. Mr. Ballenger was a retired farmer<br />
and truck line operator. He was a member of the Eagles lodge in <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Bonnie) BEATTIE, R.R. 3, <strong>Rochester</strong>; a<br />
son, Devane [BALLENGER], Mishawaka; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister,<br />
Mrs. Sara BOLDMAN, Grovertown.<br />
Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Foster & Good funeral home. <strong>The</strong> Rev. V.<br />
L. GARNER will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may call at the<br />
funeral home.<br />
Edna Smith<br />
Final rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Kewanna Baptist church for Mrs. Edna<br />
SMITH, 79, Kewanna, who died at 7 p.m. Friday in St. John’s hospital, Santa Monica, Cal.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Rev. Otis STONE will officiate. Burial will be in the Bruce Lake cemetery. Friends<br />
may call at the Harrison funeral home in Kewanna.<br />
She was born Aug. 18, 1890, in Indiana, and had lived most of her life in Kewanna. Her<br />
first marriage was to Roy ZELLERS. He died in 1938. Her second marriage was to Guy SMITH,<br />
who survives.<br />
Also surviving are a son, Wilmer ZELLERS, Long Beach, Cal.; two step-sons, Donald<br />
SMITH, Cambridge, Wis., and Cloyd SMITH, Pacific Palisades, Cal.; one step-daughter, Mrs.<br />
Dorothy GINDELBERGER, Osceola; a brother, Lewis McKEE, Royal Center; one sister, Mrs.<br />
Nita GILLESPIE, Kewanna; twenty-one grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.<br />
Norma Jean McKee<br />
Private graveside services will be conducted Tuesday in the Akron cemetery for Mrs.<br />
Norma Jean McKEE, R.R. 1, Marion, former Akron resident, who was killed at 7:50 a.m.<br />
Saturday in an automobile crash north of Marion.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Rev. Claude FAWNS will officiate. <strong>The</strong> Haupert funeral home in Akron is in charge<br />
of arrangements. <strong>The</strong>re will be no visitation hours.<br />
Born Jan. 11, 1939, in Kosciusko county, she was the daughter of William and Edna<br />
LANDIS SICKS. Her marriage was in 1958, to Duaine McKEE, who survives.<br />
Also surviving are four daughters, Carrie, Debra, Donna, and Tina [McKEE], all at home;<br />
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William SICKS, R.R. 1, Hartford City; the paternal grandfather,<br />
Clarence SICKS, R.R. 1, Silver Lake; one brother, Gary [SICKS], and one sister, Elizabeth<br />
[SICKS], both of Hartford City.<br />
