Gladys Hutson<br />

Last rites for Mrs. Gladys MIDDLETON HUTSON, 78, R.R. 3, Traverse City, Mich.,<br />

who died at 3 a.m. Friday, will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the Grossman funeral home at Argos with<br />

the Rev. Jacob WAECHTER officiating. Burial will be in the Argos Maple Grove cemetery.<br />

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Monday.<br />

Mrs. Hutson died in the Munson Medical Center at Traverse City after an extended<br />

illness.<br />

She was born Aug. 9, 1892 in Chicago and had lived in the Traverse City area since<br />

1947, moving there from Chicago. In 1919 she was married to James HUTSON, who died in<br />

1945. She was married in 1947 to Fred HUTSON, who survives. She was the daughter of Jesse<br />

and Alice THORNBURG MIDDLETON. She was a member of the Traverse City First Christian<br />

church.<br />

Surviving with the husband are two sisters, Mrs. Nellie KELLY and Mrs. Dorothy<br />

ELEY, both of Argos; three brothers, Dr. William MIDDLETON, Argos dentist; Glenn<br />

MIDDLETON, Long Beach, Cal., and Jerry MIDDLETON, Denver, Colo., five grandchildren,<br />

and one great-grandchild. A son, James [HUTSON], preceded in death.<br />

Ray Overmyer<br />

Final rites were conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Foster & Good funeral home for Ray<br />

OVERMYER, 71, R.R. 3, <strong>Rochester</strong>, who died at 1 p.m. Saturday in Woodlawn hospital where he<br />

had been admitted one hour earlier. Death was due to a heart attack. <strong>The</strong> Rev. Laurence I.<br />

SMITH officiated and burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Leiters Ford.<br />

He was born June 19, 1899, near <strong>Fulton</strong>, to Boyd and Rosa COOK OVERMYER and had<br />

resided all his life in <strong>Fulton</strong> county. He was semi-retired from farming. He was married in<br />

<strong>Rochester</strong> April 22, 1922 to Helen L. BRUGH, who survives.<br />

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Dora) DOERR, Mishawaka, and Mrs. Carl<br />

(Jean) SHAFER, Plymouth; a son, Robert D. [OVERMYER], <strong>Rochester</strong>; eight grandchildren; two<br />

great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Almeda) BRYAN, Medway, O., and Mrs. Ellsworth<br />

(Esther) HESS, Delaware, O., and a brother, Roy [OVERMYER], of Elk Mound, Wis. A<br />

daughter, two brothers and a sister preceded in death.<br />

Roland Jones<br />

Roland JONES, owner and operator of Jones grocery and postoffice at Delong, died<br />

unexpectedly early this morning at Plymouth Parkview hospital. <strong>The</strong> body has been taken to the<br />

Easterday-Bonine funeral home in Culver, where arrangements are pending.
