Howard K. Peters<br />

Howard K. PETERS, 61, R.R. 1, Claypool, died Sunday at 7:48 a.m. in Murphy Medical<br />

Center, Warsaw, following a brief illness.<br />

Born Dec. 27, 1908, in Howard county, he was the son of William D. and Naomi<br />

MARVIN PETERS. His first marriage was Dec. 26, 1930, to Verda JAMES, who died in 1951.<br />

His second marriage was May 13, 1954, in Fort Wayne, to LaDonna BLANTON, who survives.<br />

Moving from Howard county, he had lived in the Claypool community for 29 years. A used-car<br />

dealer, he was a member of the Hemlock Baptist church, the Akron Masonic lodge number 659<br />

and the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite.<br />

Surviving with his second wife are four daughters, Rose Marie and Donna Sue<br />

[PETERS], both at home and Mrs. Hubert (Mary Lou) JOYNER, Sharpsville and Mrs. Ines (Joy)<br />

ROSS, Converse; seven grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Howard EADES, Hemlock, Ind., Mrs.<br />

Noel LONTS, Fort Wayne, Mrs. Owen STEVENS, Oakford, Ind., and Mrs. Olen ARMSTRONG,<br />

Kokomo, and one brother, Marvin PETERS, Kokomo. One son and one grandson preceded in<br />

death.<br />

Final rites will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Sheetz funeral home, Akron. <strong>The</strong> Rev.<br />

Peter HANSTRA will officiate. Burial will be in the Silver Lake cemetery. Friends may call at<br />

the funeral homa after 2 p.m. Tuesday and until the services Wednesday.<br />

Valura E. Bahney<br />

Valura BAHNEY, R.R. 1, Roann, died Monday at 8:45 a.m. in Wabash county hospital.<br />

Final rites are pending in the Sheetz funeral home, Akron.<br />

Final rites will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Sheetz funeral home, Akron, for Mrs.<br />

Valura E. BAHNEY, 78, R.R. 1, Roann, who died Monday at 8:25 a.m. in Wabash county<br />

hospital.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Rev. Kenneth HOSTETLER will officiate. Burial will be in the Akron cemetery.<br />

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday and until the services Thursday.<br />

Born Jan. 29, 1892, in Akron, she was the daughter of Edgar and Laura NYE. Her<br />

marriage was Dec. 15, 1909, in <strong>Rochester</strong>, to Moses T. BAHNEY, who died in 1963. A lifetime<br />

resident of the Roann area, she was a member of the Emmanuel church, southeast of Akron.<br />

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Beatrice) FITES, R.R. 1, Macy, Mrs. Allen<br />

(Imogene) SMITH, R.R. 1, Silver Lake, and Mrs. Harold (Mary Ellen) FLOOR, North<br />

Manchester; one son, Gerald BAHNEY, R.R. 1, Roann; twelve grandchildren; ten greatgrandcildren,<br />

and one half-brother, Robert BAMMERLIN, R.R. 1, Roann. One son and two halfbrothers<br />

preceded her in death.<br />

Lona Pontious<br />

Mrs. Lona PONTIOUS, 73, Huntington, died this morning in Spooner, Wis. She had<br />

been ill several years.<br />

Final rites are pending at the Haupert funeral home, Akron.
