Leroy Baker<br />

Leroy BAKER, 78, R.R. 1, Macy, died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday in the Canterbury nursing home.<br />

He had been a patient since Saturday and seriously ill six months.<br />

Born Aug. 10, 1892, near Macy, he was the son of Philip and Daisy WAGONER<br />

BAKER. His marriage was June 23, 1947, in LaPorte, to Alice M. BECKER, who survives. A<br />

retired farmer, he had spent his entire life in the Macy community. He was a former employee of<br />

the Studebaker corportion and a member of the Lincoln Masonic Order at Macy, the Macy<br />

Christian church and <strong>Rochester</strong> American Legion Post. He was a veteran of World War I and a<br />

member of the World War I Barracks.<br />

Surviving with his wife are one brother, Ray BAKER, Macy; a sister, Mrs. V. D. (Retha)<br />

MIKESELL, South Bend; three nephews, Oris BAKER, <strong>Fulton</strong>; Jerry BAKER, <strong>Rochester</strong>; and<br />

Philip BAKER, Phoenix, Ariz.; two nieces, Mrs. Neil STANTON, South Bend, and Mrs. Robert<br />

FRAZIER, Denver, Colo. One brother preceded in death.<br />

Final rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Rev. Chester WALTHER will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends<br />

may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday. <strong>The</strong> family has requested that memorials other<br />

than flowers be made to the Cancer fund.<br />

Gertrude Kennell<br />

Mrs. Gertrude KENNELL, 84, Watseka, Ill., formerly of <strong>Rochester</strong>, died about 1 a.m.<br />

today in Watseka. She was a sistr of Clyde GARNER of Kewanna. Other survivors include the<br />

husband, William [KENNELL]; a daugher, Mrs. Alvin (Miriam) [SAUER], Watseka; four<br />

grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Rites are pending in Watseka.<br />

Gertrude Kennell<br />

Mrs. Gertrude KENNELL, 84, Watseka, Ill., former <strong>Rochester</strong> resident, died at 1:15 a.m.<br />

Saturday at her residence. She had been ill for some time<br />

Born March 28, 1886, in the <strong>Rochester</strong> area, she was the daughter of William and Della<br />

PRILL GARNER. Her marriage was June 6, 1903, in <strong>Rochester</strong>, to William KENNELL, who<br />

survives. She had resided in Watseka since 1960, moving from <strong>Rochester</strong>. She was a member of<br />

the United Methodist church at Watseka and the Homemakers Extension club.<br />

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Alvan (Miriam) [SAUER], Watseka; one sister,<br />

Mrs. Ellis (Golda) ZAHUISER, Oceanside, Cal.; one brother, Clyde GARNER, Kewanna; four<br />

grandchildren, one great-grandchild.<br />

Final rites will be at 2 p.m. today in the Foster & Good funeral home. <strong>The</strong> Rev. Vernon<br />

LALLEMENT will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.<br />

Rev. Homer Lee Bennett<br />

<strong>The</strong> Rev. Homer Lee BENNETT, 60, Edmonton, Ky., died Sunday in an Edmonton<br />

hospital. He was the father of Mrs. Howard (Lois) CONRAD of <strong>Rochester</strong>. He is also survived<br />

by five other daughters and four sons. Final rites will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Butler funeral<br />

home in Edmonton.
