Sylvester Zaborowski
Funeral services were conducted this morning at 10:30 o’clock in Plymouth for Sylvester
“Sal” ZABOROWSKI, 70, Plymouth, who died Saturday afternoon. Mr. Zaborowski was the
husband of the former Lucille FELKE, sister of Paul and Ed FELKE of Rochester.
Iva L. Dawald
Iva L. DAWALD, 80, Macy, died Monday at 2:22 p.m. in Dukes hospital, Peru. She had
been ill several months.
Born July 15, 1889, in Miami county, she was the daughter of Isaac and Adaline HELM.
Her marriage was Oct. 6, 1907, in Peru, to Edward L. “Ted” DAWALD, who died in 1966.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth R. DAWALD, Peru; one brother, Roy G. HELM, Wheat
Ridge, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Dolly POLLAND, Sterling, Clo., Mrs. Rhonda (Fern)
KRAUSKOPF, and Mrs. Fay AHNERT, Peru, and several nieces and nephews. On son, Roy
DAWALD, preceded in death.
Final rites will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Perrysburg Baptist church. The Rev. Ericus
FOOR will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery, Mishawaka. Friends may call at the
Ditmire-Zimmerman funeral home, Fulton, after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Otis J. Darr
Otis J. DARR, 85, Claypool, died today at 12:15 a.m. in the Ridgedale nursing home,
South Bend.
Born Dec. 24, 1884, in Syracuse, he was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth PHEBUS
DARR. His marriage was Aug. 17, 1904, to Zona E. STANER, who survives. A lifetime rsident
of the Mentone and Bourbon areas, he was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist church,
Mentone.
Surviving with the wife are one son, Harold DARR, Paxton, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs.
Kenneth (Marie) GEARHART, and Mrs. Chester (Catherine) HESLER, both of South Bend; ten
grandchildren; twenty-tw great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Final rites will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the King Memorial home, Mentone. The Rev.
Norman McVEY will officiate. Burial will be in the Mentone cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Dr. E. A. Whallon
Dr. E. A. WHALLON, 77, Akron, died Monday at 2:45 p.m. in the Americana nursing
home, Indianapolis. He had been ill several months.
Born June 7, 1882, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Henry and Viola BELL
WHALLON. His marriage was Oct. 23, 1919, to Katheryn KISTLER, who died in 1967. He was
a retired veterinarian.
Surviving are two daughters, Harriet WHALLON, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Stanley (Jean)
BURROWS, Norwich, New York; one son, Evan [WHALLON], Jr., Columbus, O.; five
grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Florence QUINN, Washington, D.C.
Final rites will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Haupert funeral home, Akron. The Rev.
Daniel BENGSTON will officiate. Burial will be in the Akron cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
