Final rits will be in the Grossman funeral home at Argos with the Rev. Armond RITTER<br />

of <strong>Rochester</strong> officiating. Burial will be in the Argos Maple Grove cemetery. Friends may call at<br />

the funeral home after 1 p.m. Sunday.<br />

Harry R. Stoughton<br />

Harry R. STOUGHTON, 83, R.R. 2, Argos, died today at 5:15 a.m. in the Plymouth<br />

Parkview hospital following an eight-month illness.<br />

Mr. Stoughton was born near Columbus, March 16, 1887, to William and Martha<br />

BURNS STOUGHTON. He had been a resident of Argos for 35 years, moving there from<br />

Plymouth. He was a retired machinist and a member of the Argos United Methodist church. Mr.<br />

Stoughton married July 16, 1917, to Fannie O. CHART, who survives.<br />

He is also survived by two sons, Richard [STOUGHTON], of R.R. 2, Argos, and Lee<br />

[STOUGHTON], of Fullerton, Cal.; seven grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Oma NOBLITT of<br />

Columbus, O. Two children, four brothers and two sisters are deceased.<br />

Services will be at the Grossman funeral home in Argos at 3 p.m. Monday with the Rev.<br />

Robert HANSEN officiating. Burial will be in the Tyner cemetery. Friends may call at the<br />

funeral home after 1 p.m. Sunday.<br />

Grace K. Meineka<br />

Miss Grace Kristina MEINEKA, 61, R.R. 4, <strong>Rochester</strong>, died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday in<br />

Woodlawn hospital. She had been ill 1 1/2 years.<br />

Born April 13, 1909, in Knox, she was the daughter of Fred and Katherine EISLE<br />

MEINEKA. She had resided in this area 35 years, moving from Knox. She was a member of the<br />

St. John’s Lutheran church.<br />

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Minnie MARTIN, <strong>Rochester</strong>; Mrs. Katherine GALTON<br />

and Mrs. Geneva WHALEN, both of Marritt Isle, Fla. Two brothers preceded in death.<br />

Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. <strong>The</strong> Rev.<br />

Alfred C. GERNI will officiate. Burial will be in the Citizen’s cemetery here. Friends may call at<br />

the funeral home.<br />

Elbie V. Herendeen<br />

Dr. E. V. HERENDEEN, <strong>Rochester</strong> physician and surgeon, died unexpectedly of a heart<br />

attack Monday evening at his office, 120 West Ninth street. Death came at 8:15 p.m. while Dr.<br />

Herendeen was seated at his desk. He was 68 years of age.<br />

<strong>The</strong> dean of <strong>Rochester</strong>’s medical fraternity, Dr. Herendeen came to this city 32 years ago,<br />

in 1938, to begin his practice of medicine. He had sustained a heart attack 14 years ago, but<br />

recovered and resumed the care of his many patients.<br />

Dr. Herendeen, who resided at 317 West Seventh street, maintained a lively interest and<br />

involvement in local community affairs. He was a trustee of Woodlawn hospital, director of the<br />

First National Bank and a director of the <strong>Rochester</strong> School Building Corporation that helped plan<br />

the city’s new elementary school buildings.<br />

Born Feb. 1, 1902, in Silver Lake, Elbie Verlyn HERENDEEN was the son of Andrew
