Myrtle Erwin
Mrs. Myrtle ERWIN, 87, Marion, died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the Grant Memorial
hospital in Marion.
A native of Fulton county, she was born Nov. 21, in this county, the daughter of William
and Rebecca DAVIS. Her marriage was to George ERWIN, who preceded her in death. She was
a member of the First Baptist church at Marion.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Margaret) SHELTON, Mrs. Charles
BOOTH, and Miss Marjorie ERWIN, all of Marion; one sister, Mrs. [Della] PONTIUS,
Rochester, and several nieces and nephews.
Final rites will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist church in
Marion. Burial will be in the Marion cemetery. Friends may call at the Diggs Funeral home in
that city after 7 p.m today.

Nancy Smith
Nancy SMITH, six-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard M. SMITH of Fairfax,
Va., was killed Thursday when she was hit by a car in Ocean City, Md., while the family was on
vacation. Burial was in Fairfax. The father, a former Rochester resident, is a brother of Admiral
SMITH of Lake Manitou and of Mrs. Harold S. YOUNG, 1520 Main street.
Jessie Paxton
Mrs. Jessie PAXTON, 72, R.R. 1, Akron, died at 9:35 a.m. Monday in Woodlawn
hospital. She was admitted Sunday following a short illness.
Born Nov. 11, 1897, in Kosciusko county, she was the daughter of Israel and Laura Bell
HITE LANDIS. She had spent most of her life in Kosciusko county. Her marriage was Feb. 28,
1914, in Warsaw, to Russell PAXTON, who survives. She was a member of the Silver Creek
Church of God.
Surviving with her husband are five daughters, Mrs. Fred (Charlotte) KEESEY, Akron;
Mrs. Ralph (Edna) CURTIS, Indianapolis; Mrs. Wilbur (Neva) STACKHOUSE, Bourbon; Mrs.
Gail (Freda) GEIGER, Milford; Mrs. George (Bonnie) GARBER, North Manchester; four sons,
James [PAXTON], Silver Lake, Edward, Earl and Larry [PAXTON], all of Rochester; twenty-nine
grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie SAMSON, Fort Lauderdale,
Fla., and Mrs. Ethel BUCHER, R.R. 1, Silver Lake, and two brothers, Dow LANDIS and Ted
LANDIS, both of Akron. Three brothers preceded in death.
Final rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Silver Creek Church of God. The Revs.
George REASOR and Victor YEAGER will officiate. Burial will be in the Silver Creek cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sheetz funeral home in Akron until noon Wednesday and at the church one
hour prior to services.
