Myrtle Erwin<br />

Mrs. Myrtle ERWIN, 87, Marion, died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the Grant Memorial<br />

hospital in Marion.<br />

A native of <strong>Fulton</strong> county, she was born Nov. 21, in this county, the daughter of William<br />

and Rebecca DAVIS. Her marriage was to George ERWIN, who preceded her in death. She was<br />

a member of the First Baptist church at Marion.<br />

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Margaret) SHELTON, Mrs. Charles<br />

BOOTH, and Miss Marjorie ERWIN, all of Marion; one sister, Mrs. [Della] PONTIUS,<br />

<strong>Rochester</strong>, and several nieces and nephews.<br />

Final rites will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist church in<br />

Marion. Burial will be in the Marion cemetery. Friends may call at the Diggs Funeral home in<br />

that city after 7 p.m today.<br />

Nancy Smith<br />

Nancy SMITH, six-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard M. SMITH of Fairfax,<br />

Va., was killed Thursday when she was hit by a car in Ocean City, Md., while the family was on<br />

vacation. Burial was in Fairfax. <strong>The</strong> father, a former <strong>Rochester</strong> resident, is a brother of Admiral<br />

SMITH of Lake Manitou and of Mrs. Harold S. YOUNG, 1520 Main street.<br />

Jessie Paxton<br />

Mrs. Jessie PAXTON, 72, R.R. 1, Akron, died at 9:35 a.m. Monday in Woodlawn<br />

hospital. She was admitted Sunday following a short illness.<br />

Born Nov. 11, 1897, in Kosciusko county, she was the daughter of Israel and Laura Bell<br />

HITE LANDIS. She had spent most of her life in Kosciusko county. Her marriage was Feb. 28,<br />

1914, in Warsaw, to Russell PAXTON, who survives. She was a member of the Silver Creek<br />

Church of God.<br />

Surviving with her husband are five daughters, Mrs. Fred (Charlotte) KEESEY, Akron;<br />

Mrs. Ralph (Edna) CURTIS, Indianapolis; Mrs. Wilbur (Neva) STACKHOUSE, Bourbon; Mrs.<br />

Gail (Freda) GEIGER, Milford; Mrs. George (Bonnie) GARBER, North Manchester; four sons,<br />

James [PAXTON], Silver Lake, Edward, Earl and Larry [PAXTON], all of <strong>Rochester</strong>; twenty-nine<br />

grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie SAMSON, Fort Lauderdale,<br />

Fla., and Mrs. Ethel BUCHER, R.R. 1, Silver Lake, and two brothers, Dow LANDIS and Ted<br />

LANDIS, both of Akron. Three brothers preceded in death.<br />

Final rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Silver Creek Church of God. <strong>The</strong> Revs.<br />

George REASOR and Victor YEAGER will officiate. Burial will be in the Silver Creek cemetery.<br />

Friends may call at the Sheetz funeral home in Akron until noon Wednesday and at the church one<br />

hour prior to services.
