Benjamin Winkel<br />

Benjamin WINKEL, 73, Argos, died Sunday at 3:20 p.m. in Marshall county hospital at<br />

Plymouth of burns suffered in a fire that destroyed his mobile home Saturday at 7:30 p.m.<br />

<strong>The</strong> fire, which originated in the front portion of the trailer, (kitchen and living area),<br />

trapped Winkel, who was ill and could not move about freely. A neighbor lady rescued him and<br />

he was rushed to the hospital.<br />

No definite fire cause has been determined, but the Argos fire department, headed by<br />

Chief Devon BURKETT, is investigating.<br />

Born April 26, 1896 in Algona, Ia., Mr. Winkel was the son of Frank and Sarah<br />

HORMONEY WINKEL. A retired Western Union telegraph company employee, he was a<br />

veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legon post at Argos.<br />

Surviving are one brother, Frank [WINKEL], of Syracuse, N.Y., and four sisters, Mrs.<br />

Marjorie ESSER, Des Moines, Ia.; Mrs. Ruth STOLTE, Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Ethel<br />

KUTCHARA, Clear Lake, Ia.; and Mrs. Mildred CHOATE, San Diego, Cal.<br />

Final rites will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Grossman funeral home, Argos. <strong>The</strong> Rev.<br />

Russell GOOD will officiate. Burial will be in the Argos Maple Grove cemetery where the<br />

American Legion will conduct full military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home.<br />

Jacob Milliser<br />

Jacob MILLISER, 90, R.R. 4, <strong>Rochester</strong>, (near Leiters Ford), died Sunday at 2 a.m. in<br />

Woodlawn hospital. He had been ill five years.<br />

Born Oct. 7, 1879, near Leiters Ford, he was the son of George and Jane MILLISER. His<br />

marriage was March 11, 1899, in <strong>Fulton</strong> county, to Pearl HORNER, who died Feb. 21, 1963. A<br />

retired farmer, he had lived his entire life in the Leiters Ford area.<br />

Surviving are one son, Roy L. MILLISER, Constantine, Mich.; eight grandchildren (two<br />

that are known locally: Mrs. <strong>The</strong>a Jean TIPPY, R.R. 2, <strong>Rochester</strong>, and Mrs. <strong>The</strong>odore COMBS,<br />

South Bend) and ten great-grandchildren. One daughter and one son preceded in death.<br />

Final rites will be Tuesday at 2 p.m in Foster & Good funeral home. <strong>The</strong> Rev. Robert<br />

ELLISON will officiate. Burial will be in the Leiters Ford I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at<br />

the funeral home.<br />

Orville Quick<br />

Orville QUICK, 78, Clermont, Fla., formerly of the <strong>Rochester</strong> area, died Monday evening<br />

in Clermont following a heart attack.<br />

Born March 18, 1892, in Liberty township, he was the son of Milton and Ruth QUICK.<br />

A retired livestock dealer, he was also a member of the Masons.<br />

Surviving with the wife are two daughters, Betty BOUTON, Constantine, Mich., and<br />

Barbara [QUICK], Cleveland, O.; two brothers, Carl and Earl QUICK, both of Rocheser, and<br />

sixteen grandchildren. Three sisters preceded in death. Final rites are pending in Macy.
