Cecil R. McVay<br />
Cecil Ray McVAY, 68, McAllen, Texas, died at 6:07 p.m. Saturday in the Alliance Rest<br />
Village at McAllen after an illness of one year.<br />
Born in Pulaski county near Kewanna Aug. 23, 1902, he was the son of Harry and Myrtle<br />
GUISE McVAY. He attended school in Kewanna, then moved to Tulsa, Okla., in 1920. He had<br />
lived in McAllen for 35 years. A retired employee of the Tulsa Oil company, Mr. McVay had<br />
operated an upholstering shop in McAllen before becoming ill. He was married to Savola POORE<br />
of Tulsa, who survives.<br />
Also surviving are two sons, Richard and Daniel [McVAY], and a daughter, Mrs. Carl<br />
(Norma Jean) SCHACH, all of Texas; eight grandchildren; the step-mother, Mrs. Bessie McVAY,<br />
<strong>Rochester</strong>, and three sisters, Mrs. Paul (Opal) TREES, Tulsa; Mrs. William (Ruth) HIKE,<br />
Encinitas, Cal., and Mrs. Carl (Mary Alice) OVERMYER, <strong>Rochester</strong>. A son, Cecil Ray<br />
[McVAY] Jr., and a brother, Ralph [McVAY], preceded in death.<br />
Final rites and burial will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in McAllen.<br />
Albert J. Cox<br />
Final rites were conducted at 1:30 p.m. today in the Sheetz funeral home in Akron for<br />
Albert J. COX, 75, R.R. 1, Akron, who died at 7 a.m. Saturday at his residence. <strong>The</strong> Rev. Claude<br />
FAWNS officiated. Burial was in the Akron cemetery.<br />
Born Oct. 7, 1894, in Howard county, he was the son of William and Rose Ellen<br />
CARSON COX. His marriage was Dec. 19, 1915, in Tipton, to Belle RESSLER, who preceded in<br />
death. A retired farmer, Mr. Cox had resided in the Akron community 47 years, moving from<br />
Tipton county. He was a member of the Friends church of New Salem.<br />
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Orville (Octava) PAUL, Indianapolis; Mrs. Maxine<br />
MAHONEY, Detroit; Mrs. Arthur (Monell) KISSELL, Walton, and Mrs. W. A. (Jean) JONES,<br />
<strong>Rochester</strong>; one son, Ted COX, Akron; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters,<br />
Mrs. Carl (Modena) LEININGER, Akron; Mrs. Fred (Leota) ALLEN, Kokomo; Mrs. Ed (Etta)<br />
WHITE, Wabash; Mrs. Viola SWAIN, Fort Wayne; two brothers, Jesse and Paul COX, both of<br />
Akron. Two sisters and one brother preceded in death.<br />
Agnes Rans<br />
Mrs. Agnes RANS, 73, Mentone, died unexpectedly at 10:45 a.m. Sunday in the Murphy<br />
Medical Center at Warsaw.<br />
Born Feb. 6, 1897, in <strong>Fulton</strong> county, she was the daughter of Jacob and Sarah REED<br />
HENDRICKSON. Her marriage was Dec. 22, 1915, to George H. RANS. He died in 1948. Mrs.<br />
Rans was a former cook and had resided the past 33 years in Mentone, moving from <strong>Fulton</strong>. She<br />
was a member of the First Baptist church at Mentone and the Mentone Home Economics club.<br />
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Everett (Fern) DESSON and Mrs. Raymond (Grace)<br />
LEWIS, both of Mentone; one sister, Mrs. Nellie RIEMENSCHNEIDER, <strong>Fulton</strong>; four<br />
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. One son and one daughter preceded in death.<br />
Final rites will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Mentone Baptist church. <strong>The</strong> Rev.<br />
Norman McVAY will officiate. Burial will be in the <strong>Fulton</strong> cemetery. Friends may call at the<br />
King Memorial home in Mentone from 7 p.m. Monday until noon on Wednesday at the church<br />
from noon until the time of service.
