Final rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Haupert funeral home in Akron for Mrs.<br />
Stella NICODEMUS, R.R. 1, Akron, who died Tuesday in Woodlawn hospital.<br />
Lee Stephen<br />
Lee STEPHEN, 74, Redkey, died Tuesday in Portland, Ind. He was the brother of Ora<br />
STEPHEN of <strong>Rochester</strong>. Final rites will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Redkey.<br />

Clair Berkebile<br />
Clair BERKEBILE, 65, brother of Dr. Dale BERKEBILE of <strong>Rochester</strong>, died Friday<br />
afternoon after a traffic accident at Tipp City, O., where he was a high school teacher. Funeral<br />
services will be Monday in Tipp City.<br />
Pearl M. Gates<br />
Mrs. Pearl M. GATES, 80, Mentone, died at 5 p.m. Friday at the Murphy Medical Center<br />
following an illness of several years.<br />
She was born Oct. 3, 1890 in Claypool to <strong>The</strong>odore and Etta JONES PARKER and had<br />
lived in the Mentone area for 28 years after coming from the Silver Lake area.<br />
In 1909 she married Frank ULSH who died July 17, 1927 and on April 3, 1942 she<br />
married Claude GATES who survives.<br />
She was a member of the first Baptist church of Mentone.<br />
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Beulah) BERLIN, Warsaw; a son, James<br />
GATES, Mentone; three sisters, Mrs. Ocie NEWCOMB, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mrs. Mahlon<br />
(Stella) RICKEL, Claypool, and Mrs. Larry (Mary) LONGBRAKE, Tarpin Springs, Fla.; four<br />
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One sister preceded her in death.<br />
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist church, Mentone with the Rev.<br />
Norman McBAY presiding. Burial will be at the Grace Lawn cemetery, Claypool.<br />
Friends may call from noon Sunday until noon Monday at the King Memorial home, then<br />
at the church until the time of service.
