John C. Romig<br />

John C. ROMIG, 87, Argos, died Wednesday at 1:30 a.m. in Marshall county hospital,<br />

Plymouth, following a brief illness.<br />

Born Dec. 23, 1882, in Argos, he was the son of Abram and Harriett RINGER ROMIG.<br />

His marriage was to Clara GROSSMAN who died Dec. 18, 1956. A lifetime resident of the Argos<br />

community, he was a retired farmer, a former school teacher, a former Greencastle township<br />

assessor and a member of the United Methodist church, Argos.<br />

Surviving are one brother, Jonas ROMIG, Argos, and several nieces and nephews. One<br />

son died in infancy.<br />

Final rites will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Grossman funeral home, Argos. <strong>The</strong> Rev.<br />

Robert HANSEN will officiate. Burial will be in the New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth. Friends<br />

may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.<br />

Roy Geier<br />

Roy GEIER, 85, Kewana, died Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. in the National Nursing home here.<br />

Born June 15, 1884, near Grass Creek, he was the son of Andrew and Elizabeth RANS<br />

GEIER. His marriage was to Maude O. BROWER, who died in 1947. He was a retired farmer.<br />

Surviving are one brother, Oliver GEIER, <strong>Rochester</strong>; one nephew, and four nieces. One<br />

son, three brothers and two sisters preceded in death.<br />

Final rites will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Harrison Garden chapel, Kewanna. <strong>The</strong> Rev.<br />

John REDDIX will officiate. Burial will be in the Grass Creek cemetery. Friends may call at the<br />

funeral home after 1 p.m. today.<br />

John W. Werkowski<br />

John William WERKOWSKI, 49, Indianapolis, was pronounced dead on arrival at Dr.<br />

James N. HAMPTON’s office in Argos at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Death was due to a heart attack.<br />

Mr. Werkowski was traveling from South Bend to Indianapolis when, three miles south<br />

of Argos, on U.S. 31, he suffered the attack.<br />

His wife, Dorothy [WERKOWSKI], who was traveling with him as a passenger in the<br />

car, took the steering wheel, applied the brakes and managed to steer the car off the road into a<br />

ditch.<br />

Mr. Werkowski had been under a doctor’s care for a heart condition for several years.<br />

<strong>The</strong> body was taken from Dr. Hampton’s office to the Grossman funeral home, Argos.<br />

Today the body will be taken from the Grossman funeral home to the Flanner-Buchanan funeral<br />

home, Indianapolis, where final rites are pending.
