John C. Romig
John C. ROMIG, 87, Argos, died Wednesday at 1:30 a.m. in Marshall county hospital,
Plymouth, following a brief illness.
Born Dec. 23, 1882, in Argos, he was the son of Abram and Harriett RINGER ROMIG.
His marriage was to Clara GROSSMAN who died Dec. 18, 1956. A lifetime resident of the Argos
community, he was a retired farmer, a former school teacher, a former Greencastle township
assessor and a member of the United Methodist church, Argos.
Surviving are one brother, Jonas ROMIG, Argos, and several nieces and nephews. One
son died in infancy.
Final rites will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Grossman funeral home, Argos. The Rev.
Robert HANSEN will officiate. Burial will be in the New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth. Friends
may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
Roy Geier
Roy GEIER, 85, Kewana, died Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. in the National Nursing home here.
Born June 15, 1884, near Grass Creek, he was the son of Andrew and Elizabeth RANS
GEIER. His marriage was to Maude O. BROWER, who died in 1947. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are one brother, Oliver GEIER, Rochester; one nephew, and four nieces. One
son, three brothers and two sisters preceded in death.
Final rites will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Harrison Garden chapel, Kewanna. The Rev.
John REDDIX will officiate. Burial will be in the Grass Creek cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home after 1 p.m. today.

John W. Werkowski
John William WERKOWSKI, 49, Indianapolis, was pronounced dead on arrival at Dr.
James N. HAMPTON’s office in Argos at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Death was due to a heart attack.
Mr. Werkowski was traveling from South Bend to Indianapolis when, three miles south
of Argos, on U.S. 31, he suffered the attack.
His wife, Dorothy [WERKOWSKI], who was traveling with him as a passenger in the
car, took the steering wheel, applied the brakes and managed to steer the car off the road into a
ditch.
Mr. Werkowski had been under a doctor’s care for a heart condition for several years.
The body was taken from Dr. Hampton’s office to the Grossman funeral home, Argos.
Today the body will be taken from the Grossman funeral home to the Flanner-Buchanan funeral
home, Indianapolis, where final rites are pending.
