Ethel Myers<br />

Mrs. Ethel MYERS, 84, R.R. 1, Argos, died at 1 a.m. today in the TLC nursing home at<br />

Argos.<br />

Born Dec. 2, 1886 near Poplar Grove church west of Argos, she was the daughter of<br />

Isaac and Bertha WICKIZER THOMPSON. She had lived several years in the LaPorte area and<br />

the remainder of her life in Plymouth and Argos. Her first marriage was in 1907 to Jay BOYCE,<br />

who died in 1922. Her second marriage was May 8, 1944 to Lawrence MYERS, who survives.<br />

She was a member of the Argos Christian church.<br />

Surviving with the husband are two daughters, Mrs. Robert LOWRY, Argos, and Mrs.<br />

Jesse ROBINSON, Warsaw; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs.<br />

George DUFF, Plymouth, and a brother, Alva THOMPSON, R.R. 1, Argos.<br />

Last rites will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Grossman funeral home in Argos with the Rev.<br />

Jacob WAECHTER officiating. Burial will be in the Argos Maple Grove cemetery. Friends may<br />

call after 4 p.m. Sunday.<br />

I. Merle Blacketor<br />

I. Merle BLACKETOR, 63, 531 East 14th street, died at 6:25 a.m. Sunday in Woodlawn<br />

hospital. He had been ill one month.<br />

Born March 17, 1907, in <strong>Rochester</strong>, he was the son of Seymour and Anna Elizabeth<br />

WOLF BLACKETOR. His marriage was April 24, 1934, in <strong>Rochester</strong>, to May STEININGER.<br />

She preceded in death March 5, 1967. Mr. Blacketor was a lifetime resident of <strong>Rochester</strong> and<br />

retired from operating the B&L Milling company in Mexico. He was a member of the First<br />

Baptist church in <strong>Rochester</strong> and the Eagles lodge here.<br />

Surviving are two brothers, Otto H. BLACKETOR, Detroit, Mich., and Hugh<br />

BLACKETOR, Medford, O.; four sisters, Mrs. Glen (Deloris) McGREW, <strong>Fulton</strong>; Miss Ethel<br />

BLACKETOR, <strong>Rochester</strong>; Mrs. Paul (Bonnie) DAVIS, Aurora, Ill., and Mrs. Cecil (Bernice)<br />

RHODES, Athens; one aunt, Miss Esther WOLF, <strong>Rochester</strong>. Ond son, Raymond<br />

[BLACKETOR], preceded in death in 1935.<br />

Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. <strong>The</strong> Rev.<br />

Donald LAMBERT will officiate. Burial will be in the <strong>Rochester</strong> I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may<br />

call at the funeral home.<br />

Richard E. Elliott<br />

Funeral services were Monday for Richard E. ELLIOTT, 72, Logansport, who died<br />

Saturday. He was born near Fletchers Lake in <strong>Fulton</strong> county to Alfred and Emma ANDERSON<br />

ELLIOTT. He was a cousin of Mrs. Hugh McMAHAN of <strong>Rochester</strong>. <strong>The</strong> wife, the former<br />

Lucille EWERS of Logansport, and a daughter, Mrs. Merle RUTLEDGE of New Richmond, Ind.,<br />

are among the survivors.
