Deborah Sue Tobey<br />

Deborah Sue TOBEY, 14-year-old daughter of Robert and Shirley WAGONER TOBEY,<br />

R.R. 1, <strong>Rochester</strong>, died at 11:45 p.m. Monday in the South Bend Osteopathic hospital where she<br />

had been a patient since Friday. She had been ill four weeks. Death was attributed to myocarditis.<br />

Born May 13, 1956, in <strong>Rochester</strong>, she had resided here her entire life. She was a member<br />

of the freshman class of <strong>Rochester</strong> high school and a member of the Trinity United Methodist<br />

church. She was a 4-H junior leader and a member of the 4-H Woodrow Peppers and the<br />

Woodrow Sodbusters.<br />

Surviving with her parents are one sister, Lee Ann TOBEY, at home; the maternal<br />

grandmother, Mrs. Charles (Pearl) WAGONER, R.R. 1, <strong>Rochester</strong>; the paternal grandfather and<br />

paternal step-grandmother, Mr. and Mrs. Howard TOBEY, R.R. 1, Rochestr; the paternal greatgrandmother,<br />

Mrs. Lucy TOBEY, <strong>Rochester</strong>; eleven cousins; an aunt, Mrs. Ned (Jane)<br />

HALTERMAN, R.R. 1, <strong>Rochester</strong>; two uncles, Tom TOBEY, Indianapolis, and Robert<br />

WAGONER, R.R. 1, <strong>Rochester</strong>. <strong>The</strong> paternal grandmother and the maternal grandfather preceded<br />

her in death.<br />

Final rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Foster & Good funeral home. <strong>The</strong> Rev.<br />

Vernon LALLEMENT will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may<br />

call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. <strong>The</strong> family has requested that memorials other<br />

than flowers be made to the Heart Fund.<br />

Glen D. Cole<br />

Glen D. COLE, 80, R.R. 1, Argos (three miles southwest of Tippecanoe) died at 8:45<br />

p.m. Monday in the intensive care ward at Plymouth Parkview hospital following a car-train<br />

accident at the Fir road crossing west of Tippecanoe about 5:30 p.m. Monday.<br />

Mr. Cole’s car stalled on the Norfolk and Western tracks and was hit by the engine of a<br />

freight train.<br />

Mrs. [Fostie] SILL of Tippecanoe, a sister of Mr. Cole, was a passenger in the car. She<br />

was able to get out of the vehicle before it was hit and was not injured.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Marshall county coroner said Mr. Cole died of multiple injuries.<br />

Born March 10, 1890 in Howard county near Kokomo, he was the son of John and Millie<br />

WINTERROWD COLE. He had lived at Tippecanoe for 44 years, moving there from South<br />

Bend, where he had owned a grocery store. He was married to Ervada JONES at Tippecanoe Feb.<br />

28, 1912. She survives. Mr. Cole, a retired farmer, was a longtime member of the Tippecanoe<br />

I.O.O.F. and also belonged to the Canton at <strong>Rochester</strong> and Eagles Lodge of Plymouth.<br />

Surviving with the widow is a daughter, Miss Doris Dean COLE, South Bend; two<br />

sisters, Mrs. [Fostie] (Nilas Glen) SILL, Tippecanoe, and Mrs. Lester (Dottie) ROHRER,<br />

Mentone. A daughter, Dorothy [COLE], died in infancy.<br />

Last rites will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tippecanoe Community church with the Rev.<br />

James GABHART officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Brethren cemetery. <strong>The</strong> Tippecanoe<br />

I.O.O.F. lodge will conduct ritualistic rites at the cemetery.<br />

Friends may call at the Grossman funeral home in Argos after 1 p.m. Wednesday until 11<br />

a.m. Thursday and at the church for one hour before services.
