Twentieth Century Literature
No. of hours per week: three hours
Prerequisite: nil
Assessment: continuous
Subject airns and description
This subject explores the impact of twentieth century
innovation and experimentation in the arts on the dominant
forms of literary representation and interpretation. The
implications of contemporary thought about language will
be considered, particularly in relation to the emergence of
new critical methods. These have challenged assumptions
about what literature is, its relationship to society, and how
it should be interpreted and valued.
