Subject description<br />

This subject deals with the formal technical skills <strong>of</strong><br />

engineering drawing.<br />

This subject will cover requirements for engineering drawings,<br />

orthographic projection and auxiliary projections, sectioning<br />

and dimensioning, two dimensional geometry, details <strong>of</strong><br />

machine elements, screws and fasteners, etc.<br />

Subject description<br />

This subject will introduce a wider range <strong>of</strong> materials and<br />

techniques through demonstration and use <strong>of</strong> the workshop<br />

machinery. The use <strong>of</strong> a variety <strong>of</strong> materials such as plastic,<br />

timber, moulding materials, sheetmetal, steel and aluminium<br />

will provide an opportunity to produce models and prototypes<br />

representing product design projects.<br />

Subject aims<br />

To introduce computing and the type <strong>of</strong> programs and<br />

languages applicable to design environments.<br />

Subject description<br />

Topics covered will include desktop publishing, illustration and<br />

photo-imaging for graphic and industrial applications. The use<br />

<strong>of</strong> data storage, file maintenance and bureau services will be<br />

discussed. Practical work will provide the student with specific<br />

knowledge in areas critical to industrial design.
