An organisation based strategic<br />
project<br />
During the course it is necessary for participants to obtain<br />
access and support from the management <strong>of</strong> an organisation,<br />
preferably medium to large, with the course requirement to<br />
research and develop a strategic plan. Where this is not<br />
possible <strong>Swinburne</strong> will assist in finding a suitable<br />
organisation.<br />
It is expected that organisations in which MBA candidates<br />
carry out their projects will gain significant benefits from the<br />
analysis <strong>of</strong> their problems and the development <strong>of</strong> strategic<br />
solutions.<br />
Choice<br />
In the full-time MBA an elective subject makes it possible to<br />
explore a chosen area in greater depth or to expand into new<br />
- areas. Together with the strategic project and the elective<br />
I subject this course <strong>of</strong>fers the combination <strong>of</strong> a carefully<br />
5 designed learning experience which will enhance<br />

performance in the task <strong>of</strong> general management, and an<br />
" opportunity for the student to design part <strong>of</strong> the program to<br />
meet particular individual needs.<br />

Four days in residence<br />
A residential program is organised for students to get to<br />
know other course members and the teaching staff, to clarify<br />
expectations about the course and its themes, to establish<br />
working teams, and to consider the key behavioural aspects<br />
<strong>of</strong> organisational life.<br />
Also, BT703 Introduction to Business S<strong>of</strong>tware, a five day<br />
computer skills program, is held prior to the start <strong>of</strong> the main<br />
semester.<br />

the time <strong>of</strong> year the program is started and according to the<br />
student's academic background.<br />
Electives<br />
As part <strong>of</strong> the full-time one-year MBA, students are required<br />
to complete an elective subject.<br />
The program <strong>of</strong> electives will be designed for each<br />
candidate's needs through consultation between the student<br />
and staff.<br />
Entrance requirements<br />
A degree, or its equivalent from a recognised institution, and<br />
normally a minimum <strong>of</strong> three years appropriate work<br />
experience.
