10.2.5 Two months from the date <strong>of</strong> publication <strong>of</strong><br />

the original results, the Divisional Manager<br />

shall notify the awarding Divisional Board <strong>of</strong><br />

any final results (those listed in sections<br />

10.1.1 to 10.1.3) which are outstanding.<br />

The Divisional Board must deal with the<br />

matter at its next scheduled meeting.<br />

10.3 Deferred results<br />

10.3.1 A deferred result may be granted only by<br />

the Divisional Board and then only when<br />

special circumstances justify the granting <strong>of</strong><br />

an extension <strong>of</strong> time for the completion <strong>of</strong><br />

the work prescribed for the subject. Where<br />

possible the Subject Convener should<br />

advise students <strong>of</strong> reasons for the deferred<br />

result prior to the result being published.<br />

10.3.2 When a deferred result has been granted,<br />

the result must be finalised for notification<br />

to the awarding Divisional Board by a date<br />

not later than two months after the date <strong>of</strong><br />

publication <strong>of</strong> the deferred result. The<br />

student and the Subject Convener shall be<br />

advised <strong>of</strong> the date and conditions set for<br />

the finalisation <strong>of</strong> the result.<br />

10.3.3 Any extension <strong>of</strong> the period <strong>of</strong> deferment in<br />

excess <strong>of</strong> two months must have the prior<br />

approval <strong>of</strong> the awarding Divisional Board<br />

which shall fix an alternative date by which<br />

the student must have completed the<br />

requirements <strong>of</strong> the subject.<br />

10.3.4 As soon as the final result has been<br />

determined, the Subject Convener shall<br />

submit a Result Amendment form, via the<br />

Head <strong>of</strong> School, to the Pro Vice-Chancellor<br />

for submission to the Divisional Board.<br />

10.3.5 The Divisional Manager shall notify the Pro<br />

Vice-Chancellor <strong>of</strong> the awarding division <strong>of</strong><br />

any deferred result which has not been<br />

finalised within two months <strong>of</strong> the date <strong>of</strong><br />

publication <strong>of</strong> the deferment. The Divisional<br />

Board must act on the matter at its next<br />

meeting.<br />

10.4 Continuing result<br />

The term "continuing" may be used:<br />

10.4.1 in those subjects in which enrolment will<br />

normally extend for more than one<br />

calendar year;<br />

10.4.2 in cases where a result is determined on<br />

submission <strong>of</strong> a report or thesis;<br />

10.4.3 in cases where a student may be required<br />

to extend his or her enrolment in a subject<br />

for longer than the normal duration <strong>of</strong> the<br />

subject without a fail result being recorded<br />

for the earlier period <strong>of</strong> enrolment.<br />

"Continuing" will appear on the <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />

examination result certificate issued to<br />

students. In the normal course <strong>of</strong> events,<br />

re-enrolment in the next semester/year will<br />

be required and no final result will be issued<br />

until the end <strong>of</strong> that semesterlyear.<br />

10.5 Publication and withholding certification<br />

10.5.1 Except by resolution <strong>of</strong> the awarding<br />

Divisional Board or as provided in section<br />

10.2.7, the final result <strong>of</strong> assessments in a<br />

subject shall be published not later than<br />

three weeks from the end <strong>of</strong> the<br />

examination period nearest to the<br />

conclusion <strong>of</strong> the subiect. In the case <strong>of</strong> a<br />

Divisional Board resolGing to publish results<br />

after the normal publication period<br />

Academic Board shall be advised <strong>of</strong> the<br />

proposed publication date and the reasons<br />

for the later publication.<br />

10.5.2 The Student Administration Office is the<br />

only <strong>of</strong>ficial source for the publication and<br />

certification <strong>of</strong> results.<br />

10.5.3 Official publication <strong>of</strong> results shall be by<br />

display in a pre-designated place on the<br />

<strong>University</strong> campus on the date or dates<br />

announced by the Academic Registrar for<br />

the release <strong>of</strong> that particular semester's or<br />

year's results for each Division.<br />

10.5.4 Because <strong>of</strong> the possibility <strong>of</strong> mishearing<br />

information <strong>University</strong> staff are not<br />

permitted to provide results over the<br />

telephone.<br />

10.5.5 A certificate <strong>of</strong> final results for the<br />

particular semester will be produced by the<br />

Student Administration Office and mailed<br />

to every enrolled student within four weeks<br />

<strong>of</strong> the publication <strong>of</strong> results.<br />

10.5.6 No certification <strong>of</strong> current or past academic<br />

results will be produced or made available<br />

to any student or previously enrolled<br />

student or to any other person on behalf <strong>of</strong><br />

a student or previously enrolled student <strong>of</strong><br />

the Universitv who:<br />

a) has failed to return outstanding<br />

materials borrowed from the <strong>University</strong><br />

Library;<br />

b) has failed to pay any fine or imposition<br />

relating to a); or<br />

c) has failed to meet any other<br />

outstanding commitment to the<br />

<strong>University</strong>.<br />

These conditions apply after notice to that<br />

effect had been posted by the Academic<br />

Registrar to the student at the address most<br />

recently recorded in the <strong>University</strong> records<br />

for that particular student.<br />

10.6 Reports<br />

10.6.1 Application for Detailed Report on<br />

assessment<br />

Any student may, on application to the<br />

Student Administration Office within 30<br />

days <strong>of</strong> the publication <strong>of</strong> the result <strong>of</strong><br />

assessment for a subject, and after<br />

payment <strong>of</strong> the fee prescribed, obtain a<br />

detailed written report by the Subject<br />

Convener on any formally assessed<br />

material. The Subject Convener must<br />

complete and return the report to the
