Postgraduate Course<br />
lnformation<br />
Application for all postgraduate courses in the Division <strong>of</strong><br />
Business, Humanities and Social Science courses should be<br />
made on the Postgraduate Application form, available from<br />
the Divison <strong>of</strong> Business, Humanities and Social Science Office<br />
or the Information Office.<br />
AO~O Graduate Certificate in Business<br />
Administration<br />
This program is a two semester course intended to provide<br />
entry to management studies for managers with excellent<br />
business experience. Special provision is made for nongraduate<br />
entrants who are excluded from similar graduate<br />
diploma programs through lack <strong>of</strong> an acceptable<br />
undergraduate qualification.<br />
Course objectives<br />
At the completion <strong>of</strong> the course, it is expected that<br />
candidates:<br />
will have completed a business course containing a body<br />
<strong>of</strong> knowledge and technology which is relevant to<br />
~mmediate and potential business opportunities;<br />
will have a recognised qualification which will assist them<br />
in developing their careers in business, and;<br />
will be equipped with suitable skills necessary to<br />
continue with further postgraduate study in business<br />
administration.<br />
As candidates will already be established in business careers,<br />
it is expected that the key vocational outcomes will arise<br />
from better current iob ~erformance as well as new<br />
opportunities opening in the broader fields <strong>of</strong> management<br />
and administration within their current organisations.<br />
Entrance requirements<br />
In order to be accepted into this course, applicants must<br />
have:<br />
a recognised undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a<br />
discidine other than business and a minimum <strong>of</strong> four<br />
years practical business experience, or;<br />
at least six years practical business experience at middle<br />
management level and a good track record as judged by<br />
the selection panel.<br />

Accounting for Management<br />

The course is based on two, sixteen week semesters. Classes<br />
will be conducted either on Friday afternoons between<br />
1.00pm to 6.00pm or on Saturdays from 8.00am to to<br />
1.00pm<br />
The course may be run 'in-house' for organisations where a<br />
significant number <strong>of</strong> candidates are available. In such cases,<br />
organisations may choose an alternative course comprising:<br />

BH403 Managing People and Organisations<br />
BM401 Marketing Management<br />
Progression to graduate diploma<br />
Students who perform very well in the graduate certificate<br />
may be eligible for entry into the Graduate Diploma in<br />
Business Administration. However, success in the graduate<br />
certificate does not guarantee entry to the graduate diploma.<br />
The content <strong>of</strong> the Graduate Certificate in Business<br />
Administration (where BT411 is chosen instead <strong>of</strong> BT401) is<br />
equivalent to the first year <strong>of</strong> the Graduate Di~loma in<br />
Business ~dministration and gives credit into he Graduate<br />
Dialoma in Business Administration and the Master <strong>of</strong><br />
Business Administration (MBA).<br />
Fees<br />
The Graduate Certificate in Business Administration is a fullfee<br />
paying course.<br />

Graduate Certificate in Business<br />
lnformation <strong>Technology</strong><br />
This course is equivalent to one semester <strong>of</strong> full-time study<br />
or two semesters part-time. A <strong>Technology</strong> stream and a<br />
Management stream are <strong>of</strong>fered in the Graduate Certificate<br />
in Business lnformation <strong>Technology</strong>.
