and Jackie had been so astonished when I told <strong>the</strong>m this might<br />
happen <strong>in</strong> previous weeks – my Fa<strong>the</strong>r specialises <strong>in</strong> Blackmail!<br />
Desperate <strong>after</strong> receiv<strong>in</strong>g two offers of money that same day<br />
that would almost certa<strong>in</strong>ly both be strongly conditional on my<br />
giv<strong>in</strong>g up smok<strong>in</strong>g, for <strong>the</strong> IET frown on that too, I got on <strong>the</strong><br />

search ‘journal science religion’ – <strong>the</strong> ‘Faraday site’ list<strong>in</strong>g very<br />
usefully all <strong>the</strong> major websites and journal websites <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
science and religion field. Eventually I had emailed ten such<br />
bodies and only had one email rejected due to <strong>the</strong> size of <strong>the</strong><br />
article I attached.<br />
As I write on Thursday 20 th September 2007, I have had a very<br />
quiet day apart from visits from Chris, Paul, my daughter like<br />
last week this time <strong>with</strong> two friends not one; and my depot. I<br />
am writ<strong>in</strong>g at 1am on Friday 21 st September, and am about to<br />
email Revd Dr John Polk<strong>in</strong>ghorne – famous <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> field of<br />
science and religion. I can truly tell him that I shared computer<br />
science tutorials <strong>in</strong> 1978-79 <strong>with</strong> his son at Cambridge!<br />

Autumnal Equ<strong>in</strong>ox & Autumn started! Friday was extremely<br />
quiet. I just rang <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>k supplier who said <strong>the</strong>y would deliver<br />
<strong>next</strong> Tuesday or so <strong>the</strong> two sets of Epson cartridges; emailed<br />
<strong>the</strong> IET who <strong>in</strong>formed me that <strong>the</strong>y had <strong>in</strong> fact just emailed <strong>the</strong><br />
local representative so I should hear from him <strong>next</strong> week; and<br />
