We got back, and retired hurt to our two different adjacent flats, Julie saying she was hungry and needed lunch, so to unpack my stuff later. Later that afternoon, feathers still ruffled by this junk shop incident, I remembered that when I played golf 20 years ago, golf shops were the place to buy and sell clubs. However when I rang the local club and was put onto the pro shop, he could not buy them – and in fact suggested selling them on eBay on the Internet! Luckily I remembered the username and password of my very old eBay account that I had not used for years. Indeed, it seemed possible to sell the clubs there, as well as certain of my other items. A bronze statuette of a nude couple in an embrace should also fetch a good price, as should my old ski boots, my car dent repair kit, and finally least of all, a bracelet with old Japanese coins on it! So I photographed them all later, and plan to put adverts on eBay for them tomorrow evening, so after a week of auction it will be Monday week evening when the auctions end – time for people to decide over the weekend. In the meantime, I had a tiny budget as of Saturday to buy a camera – at a budget price of £329.99 based on the price in Argos for the very cheapest Nikon or Olympus E420 camera in the catalogue. Could I get a better deal on eBay? Indeed I could and bought the following complete Olympus E450 KIT for just under £6 more than my supposed budget at £335.90: - • Olympus E450 with variable 18-42mm lens. • Two other lenses – a fixed wide angle and a fixed X2 telephoto lens – not very useful but better than nothing till I sold stuff on eBay next week and could buy a proper telephoto lens for about £100 on eBay not £244 at Argos! • An 8 GB flash card that costs about £35 each in the shops • A spare battery – very expensive and very useful indeed. I could keep a charged up spare battery with me all the time in case the battery in the camera ran out • A full size tripod and a portable tripod • A flash gun • Delivery with insurance • Finally, a case 456
I went round to Julie’s to tell her I had ordered a real bargain camera kit from eBay and could sell other stuff there. She was going out to work that evening shortly, so I took her car keys and unloaded my stuff from the car, and photographed some of the things, as I mentioned. When she got back from work about 7pm we had a typical meagre supper of a can of red salmon with bread and butter, tomato and pepper salad. I am waiting for a lot of things to happen right now… 1. Finances. On the Saturday I had received a week earlier than expected my refund from www.bpath.com for £60, so together with £128.99 benefit I got that day, was left £72 after clearing my problematic debt with Virgin credit cards. Phew! I had also received £406.99 for a camera and guitar kit from Direct Payments, which I transferred to my main account so I could use it with my normal card – and Paypal, to buy a good value camera kit for £335.90 that I found on Sunday afternoon on eBay. I could justify keeping the £72 left over and using some for groceries I needed and tobacco, and the rest to pay another pressing bill, £45 which I paid to my electricity company by phone the next day, Monday. For I was owed £22 for having already paid for the two guitar and camera courses out of pocket. Also I was paying for the guitar kit over five months via Littlewoods at about £12 a month. So, vitally that weekend, I was able to keep both pressing creditors happy, thanks to money arriving earlier than expected. I will be very short of cash till Wednesday thanks to paying these two such large bills, but then I will get my smaller benefit payment of each week. In the meantime I can and will have to get by, by smoking roll up tobacco instead of tailor-mades. From then I will be waiting till early the week after, when from Monday I am really hoping for dramatic good news from Barclaycard, who should have reviewed all my two medical letters, and my own letters, by then.
