NO more relationships with 'girls next door'!; - after TWO in the 'Priory Street Posse'!

four Christian publishers: - Christian Focus, Lion Hudson,
Authentic Media and SPCK. The last three of these all
returned the book with an immediate ‘no!’ but SPCK were
tempted, I could tell… After my initial chat to Ron Upton,
Resources Manager, in the next paragraph below, on
Monday 7 th July, on his advice I also sent the book to
SCM-Canterbury and Darton Longman Todd, the other two
main British Christian publishers. However they too
swiftly turned me down. That means I am only due to get
a decision from Christian Focus, who say that now I have
waited since 28 th May, they expect a decision from their
‘editorial meeting’ in two weeks or so. So I should know
by the time of my holiday at the same time Julie goes to
Cornwall, 30 th August. This is not the first time I have
written to all these publishers, who all seem very
traditional and conservative. I have as a result NO HOPE
for Christian Focus, the last I have to wait to hear from.
• The diocesan office of the Bishop of St Albans I
came to contact after chatting on the phone to Reverend
Simon Manley-Cooper, the Chaplain at the QE2 Hospital,
who I had given two copies of my book to read while
there, months earlier. After I emailed them several times
in the week of 30 th June – 4 th July and got no response, I
telephoned on Monday 7 th July, and spoke to a Ron Upton,
the Resources Manager, who recommended that I write to
the two publishers I mentioned just now in the last point.
At his request I sent a copy of “Scientific Proof that (God
The Holy) Spirit Exists” and a large number of posters on
photographic paper. Despite a couple of phone calls since,
and an email, he says he is still too busy, after all of five
weeks since 7 th July, to get around to looking at all the
stuff in my parcel!

22 nd July I emailed all my books to one Dorrance
Publishing Inc, who offer on their website to do a ‘free
review’ – however when I receive these reviews, due in ‘2-
3 weeks’ from then i.e. next week or so, I fully expect
them to be unfairly optimistic, favourable and uncritical –
as Dorrance’s aim is to take the books on and publish
them – for the usual fat fees from a ‘vanity’ or ‘subsidy’
publisher like them!
