finally let me keep the vital text of the description of how
my design basically works ‘on file’ along with just my MS
Word sketch of the actual basic keyboard layout in ‘basic
mode’ (it can change to different languages and different
character sets, is the key feature – by being backlit not
hard-wired). I have accepted this final letter in a long
correspondence by phone, email and letter, so fully expect
to receive a registration document and see my design in
their magazine in about two months’ time. PHEW!
5. Selling my car – reluctantly, but I can’t drive for
now for an unknown time into the future… As we
saw a few pages back, my first contact for months with
Julie was a discussion about what had happened to the
documents for my car, which eventually turned out most
likely to have been stolen from my glove pocket in the car,
the last place she left them. So on Friday 20 th June, as I
needed to replace the registration document I ordered one
free from the DVLA; then rang the garage where I bought
the car about the MOT; I was told to take the registration
document to any MOT testing centre, and pay £10 for a
replacement MOT certificate, which I did the following
week – the MOT centre was 400 yards walk away in Ware.
I took out a two week advert on their website for £10 with
www.autotrader.co.uk on the Monday for the car at £500,
and got only one enquiry by Thursday. As a result two
cynical blokes from the motor trade test drove the car on
the Friday 27 th June, but only offered me £100 for the car
– which I obviously had to turn down. I took advice at the
same garage where I got the MOT, and as a result, with
only one enquiry in five days, and keen to sell the car, got
Auto Trader on the phone to drop the price to £275 from
£500! After that all the next week there were three or
four or more enquiries on my mobile phone each day; a
couple from Hoddesdon test drove it with me extensively
on Wednesday 2 nd July, and the young rather smart alec
‘expert’ chap said there were lots of problems that I could
not detect with the car myself; offered me £200 for it; but
then when it came to the crunch did not have the money
(‘on us’)! Finally a chap from a village near Cambridge,
took a short test drive – went to the bank nearby and
