There was more hope recently of reducing my substantial
£6,000 credit. My Doctor has been asked to compose a
medical report to send to Barclaycard this week, who have said
after they receive it they may be lenient and write off all or
drastically reduce the balance owed of about £1,800. That may
persuade my other credit card company with whom I have an
onerous repayment arrangement, Citi, to be more generous
than their previous best offer – that I offer them a settlement
of less than the existing balance. The first offer I made while
with my Dad a month ago was 50% - which they never got
back to me about! He has said he will make me an interest
free loan to cover the settlement figure, once agreed, which will
be some fraction of the total of £880 owed. That leaves
Littlewoods – whom I owe £520 starting to be repaid in
February – or just £300 without all that interest if I settle
before then. I await a letter with a settlement figure from them
and hopefully my dad can again loan me that amount interest
free. Also I owe Capital One £190, which is attracting £4
interest a month – will Dad see the logic of helping me with
that too? After all those four formal debts to creditors, which
would no longer appear on my credit status file, are replaced by
an informal £1,000 or so loan from Dad, I will be left with only
one bank as a creditor – owing Virgin cards £3,000, because I
am still yet to make a dent in the balance. Even so continuing
to pay them £25+ a month until this time next year, when my
interest holiday period ends, and say £55 a month to Dad for
eighteen months, is less than before – so I should be able to
get my Virgin balance down fairly soon.
That would mean I might be able to get a loan to finance a relaunch
now of three not one web sites – with the second
www.maam.org.uk only partly launched. That is, if I cannot
cover the costs, or only partly cover them, with charitable
and/or artistic grants for my book publishing efforts.
Meanwhile Julie’s needs are far more basic. She needed to pay
for the dental check up she has booked for Monday, with yet
again as usual, no money from her pitiful £125 pay for last
week, after the usual rent and council tax and other bills were
paid. So when I was round there she was very tired, but got
me to go in the loft for boxes, in case they contained anything
