On the Saturday I woke up at about 7.30am, very early for me,
with a nasty cough, that just would not stop until I retched
somewhat after some minutes. The letter I mentioned before
from the DWP said my benefits had been lowered by about
£15+ a week from today, and I checked on my internet
banking and verified that. However, the letter failed to mention
any clawing back of any ‘overpayment of benefit’ to my
enormous relief. Finally I emailed Vicki from
www.writersliterary.com to ask her to confirm (a) that my pdf
file I had sent would be workable (b) to quote for critiques for
up to 6 other manuscripts.
On Sunday Kate replied briefly by email that it was a fixed $89
that was already discounted fully, for each critique. I wait on
Monday to see the reply from Vicki – I am anxious not to carve
out especially for this firm, with a lot of hard work, an ‘editor
only’ version of what I have sent them. From Saturday night to
Sunday I typed up the last three weeks of this diary, starting
on Tuesday 23 rd June.
So, after approaching Writers Literary Agency after finding their
advert for new authors by chance on Tuesday night 23 rd June,
they had signed me up the following Friday 3 rd July; and I had a
critique on the way barring problems with the manuscript
format, just a week later. All going well, the critique should be
ready by about Friday 24 th July, be sent to me and the Agent
for my book at Writer Literary Agency, who should then start
talking to me. How as they claim I am to meet this Agent,
when I live 5,000 miles away from the USA across the Atlantic,
at this stage remains unclear!
Ever since signing up last week, I have been pondering my
other books. I am told by the Agency that I can only discuss
these with them once the Agent for the first book ‘Scientific
Proof’ has got in touch. Firstly, do I want to keep the present
texts? Some people in the psyche trade have told me they are
probably libellous! A review by the Agency as to whether they
