£308 cheque would arrive for certain on Friday. I had forgotten
in packing yesterday, my toothpaste, vital mobile phone and
some tools I needed for the work on the computers to finish
this week, but I made a quick phone call to Julie on the office
phone at the Ward and she brought these over and a few other
little things I needed. I failed to sell the cables I had bought to
Argos at WGC, as well as failing to return my now broken radio
CD walkman, as I turned out to have the wrong receipt, now
back on my daily two hour leave off the grounds of the hospital.
However their catalogue at the ward revealed that I did not
need a patch cable to directly link two computers, but another
piece of computer jargon, an ‘internet crossover cable’ – they
had one in stock for £9.99 so I bought it, and when I returned
to the ward with the broken walkman and the two useless for
my purpose patch cables, the crossover cable immediately
enabled me to network the two PC’s together! That evening I
took the remainder of my leave, and having bought a
replacement for the indoor TV aerial for the quiet room at the
ward that itself immediately got broken, now bought, again for
under £5, a far stronger one from Tesco. This immediately
worked far better in the ward that night, so patients who
watched TV there in the quiet room, were very pleased with the
far better picture and sound with no more buzz as before. I
again tried to download Service Pack 2 of Windows XP on the
right hand PC, as last week, but again it failed to work properly.
The www.microsoft.com site I had to use for this was as
abominably slow as a lumbering dinosaur, typical Microsoft
software – which hardly helped – it made trying to get updates
downloaded incredibly painful an operation!
On Tuesday I also worked on the PC’s rather than going out
and reinstalled Turbodial 6.0 – with many interruptions from
people wanting to use the room for meetings. However it failed
to install yet again!
After a quiet Tuesday there was a vital Care Programme
Approach (CPA) Meeting, where I was told, as I expected, that
the amisulpride seemed to really suit me. I left the meeting
feeling that I, my solicitor’s paralegal Matt, my father and sister
all there as well, had all been told I was getting a week’s whole
leave at home. To be followed by actual discharge next week,
