5. Jeni at ‘school end’ and her Uni and career prospects
I remain horrified to death, now that Jeni’s time at
secondary school is virtually over, that I have never met
or even been spoken to by any of her teachers at her
Presdales school in Ware. I have been totally excluded by
a ‘conspiracy of prejudice’ by her mother and her school –
whereas at the primary school at Dane End, I was kept
fully informed – probably because it was a small village, so
the school knew who I was. Apparently Presdales have
been told some wild story! Jeni should get her A level
results next month, July, and I look forward to lengthy
discussions with her that she has promised for then.
These will be about what she should study at University
and do as a career afterwards. We have very much drifted
apart since my mother developed, then died from breast
cancer two years ago. I am alarmed that recently Jeni has
been excluding me even more by referring to Helen and
Rodney, not me, as ‘her family’. I really must influence
her once she gets her A level results soon, when me meet,
to remind her that I deserve friendship and respect as her
real father!
6. Health Issues – winter infections, my mental health
- and some temporary obesity! I had not really had
any colds or flu, immunised by multiple lengthy
admissions to germ ridden mental hospitals, since my
admission when I had flu back in 1995. However, on my
trip to Sussex at Easter I contracted a massive cold – a
sinus infection it turned out – at my brother and sister-inlaw’s
house. Julie caught a cold off me for a while as a
result too, and has had various small “ladies’ problems”
over the winter too – all almost certainly from the stress
of being unemployed so long till now. However my mental
health has remained rock solid for over a year and two
weeks now – and Julie has no complaints in that
department! However, I have not mentioned that in the
winter, for the first time ever I got quite fat, in stomach
and sides – until my dentist commented on the effect on
