on a ‘massive’ submission process to ‘26,000 search engines
and directories’ that never went off. I also spent just £35 on
a submission of both websites to 1,000+ directories each.
Unless I hear from Lulu in reply to my email just now asking
whether they are actually concealing actual sales as part of
the ‘payment hold’ I have had put in place on my account
with them since March, as part of the ITIN problem ongoing
– I will have had no sales from www.silee.me.uk since
February, and nothing at all to date from www.maam.org.uk
– hardly surprising, the latter website gives away the whole
text of that booklet it is selling! In THAT case I might as well
give up both websites as failures – unless I can somehow
publicise them. The only way THAT might happen is if my
continuing investment of £10-£20 a week in lottery scratchcards
and lottery tickets did the near impossible and I got a
large win – hence could ASK the lottery organisers to
publicise these two websites! See (3) Finances.
2. Publishing efforts with my books – literary agents. I
have long considered that the above haphazard method of
promoting my books on relatively obscure websites, even if
they are also shown on Amazon, and Barnes and Noble, and
other Internet book-shops’ sites, is vastly an inferior option
to what I would much prefer. Namely that I would much
prefer to see my books with a mainstream publisher(s)
selling in actual book shops – at a much lower price than the
‘print on demand’ which I once endured with
www.authorsonline.co.uk and which now causes a very high
price during a deep recession; after Lulu, the bookshops and
I all take a cut; on an already enormous production price.
The result years ago of not once but about four times, going
round and posting extracts to all the main publishers was
that I discovered that the seven main ones that I wanted to
target, as in my letter just above recently – all require to be
approached by an agent – not just the mere author!
As a result, two years ago I tried and failed to secure an
agent. I tried again six months ago, again without success.
All six agents I wrote to with extracts of ‘Scientific Proof…’
returned the extracts with a bland pro forma rejection. Then
