She was contemplating applying for a new part time job, and leaving her present job, from which she had only received one week’s money since 23 rd September – two months! Could she claim Income Support – or jobseeker’s allowance – she wondered? Could she borrow my phone in the morning to call Housing Benefit as well? On Friday morning she duly came round and called Housing Benefit, who said she did not qualify! I thought after yesterday with the call from 3 Mobile, to call T3 Direct later that afternoon – and got straight through all of twice! They arranged to have a ’John’ call to cancel my existing contract and take out a new smaller one – for £25 a month for 500 free minutes on the small model but a new phone. As of Monday 1 st December, next week, he has still not called – and 3 Mobile have called again on both the Sunday and the Monday! A parcel arrived with Julie’s boots, Rachel’s hooded sweatshirt and Hayden’s ‘Thomas the tank engine’ jog suit. However the boots were not as described over the phone – and Julie asked me to exchange them for a ‘wedge’ pair. The weekend was incredibly quiet again. The coat I had ordered yesterday for Rachel at Julie’s request, was delivered. Also on Saturday Julie said ‘have you seen this?’ when I called in. There in the Thursday edition of the local Herald newspaper was an article ‘God without the delusions’ about my book and I 298
– and my picture. Again on Sunday, I called in to check that Rachel liked her presents – but typical of her – she did not. Monday 1 st December – Sunday 7 th December 2008. I queued in the Post Office for all of half an hour today, Monday, as a result, to post the boots and Rachel’s coat and ‘hoodie’ back to Littlewoods. Then as Julie’s 50 th birthday is on the 13 th of this month – I bought her a ‘50’ card – to find it cost over £3! Her boots arrived so she came round and collected them tonight – as she actually liked them a lot! I now expect to see 10-15 visits a day tomorrow onwards – far below the 34 average required before www.book-promotion.com are forced by their guarantee to offer a full refund even without the present dispute. I had yet another phone call from 3 Mobile – their debt collection agency this time – demanding money I would not pay! I am getting fed up with explaining T3 Direct’s problems over and over again every day! I now have all of three ongoing financial irritations going on for months now, that I wrote about two weeks ago but are still there: - 1. www.book-promotion.com and I are now involved in a ‘silent stand off’ and as there was mysteriously no reply to my email to Paypal last week, I emailed them again, hoping for some kind of swift resolution. I am in a strong position but wish it was different. I have the web site without them knowing how I got hold of it, and so have not got to pay them any more money. They have my original £198 payment and in principle, unless my visitor figures improve drastically, owe me a refund of that too. Currently, silence by them and Paypal = Stalemate! 299
