That evening my sister rang, saying she had been to a
conference in Ware, so I agreed she should check the cat. She
took food and even more litter, and commented that the cat
really needed new stainless food bowls – as hers were smelly
from ingrained stale food. I bought some from the local pet
shop shortly after my return home.
The journey home by train, starting 1.15pm Thursday was once
more uneventful, except that I nearly missed the train, having
not remembered the departure time quite right from my
Father’s Internet on his PC the previous night! I made one
phone call when I got home – to the Social Fund – to learn to
my dismay that they were only processing appeals against their
decisions of ‘no’ from as long ago as 16 th June – so I was
advised to wait till the end of November for a letter with the
result of my appeal! An email conversation with Hajni of
Substance Books confirmed that, yes, the results of her
promoting my books would be complete well before Christmas…
On Friday I had my injection, as usual these days with
absolutely no adverse reaction of toxic effects. I received a
useful phone call from Matthew Botting of the Intellectual
Property Office – my keyboard design would be in place and
registered by the end of November. I emailed Dorrance
Publishing in case my book review was ready – but was to get
no reply to this. I reflected I had thoroughly enjoyed my first
real break or vacation in sixteen whole long years, and had a
quiet weekend to celebrate.
On phoning Julie on Saturday, at 4.15pm, she was at Liverpool
Street Station in London, on the way to Hoddesdon to spend
the night with her mother.
The following day she was not available as she was getting
dizzy spells, which on seeing the Doctor that week, were
attributed to an inner ear problem, and she was given some
tablets.
