Tuesday was very quiet indeed. Julie brought some red wine
around, and said two days later that was her only reason for

On Wednesday her carpet was due to be fitted at 1.30pm, only
the fitter and she had a misunderstanding, so instead it was
fitted on Thursday morning. Because of the misunderstanding,
I could not attend the second meeting of Ware U3A (University
of the Third Age) as planned. I had a chat over the ‘pond’
electronically with lulu staff about their continued failure to
reprint my books. I emailed Manuela having looked at their
example websites for other authors. Could I change my mind a
second and final time and ask for a ‘how to order’ page after all
– as I saw that the other websites gave a whole set of
bookshops and book price comparison websites on that same
page?
Julie’s pale blue carpet was fitted in due course on Thursday
morning and I helped her shove furniture around that morning
before feeling very tired and going to bed again, having got out
of bed at 9am when she phoned me with a wake-up call then.
Her flat at last had floor covering, and was transformed with a
pale colour carpet – much lighter! I had had the immersion
heater pump replaced that Monday, and now the plumbers
called again and replaced the bathroom sink taps – the hot tap
had a corroded washer, apparently, explaining why it gave out
a black messy discharge of oxide. That evening I emailed
Kumar, Manuela’s IT Director, asking him directly to confirm
about the ‘how to order’ page – and the fact that as a result
there would no longer be any need for a ‘how to order’ link at
the bottom of every single page of the planned web site. There
was at last a positive reply by email from Lulu, saying that they
would reprint all my books the way I had asked! Victory!
