Just this Tuesday, as the big thaw of the recent freezing
weather and snow concluded, I was feeling desperate about
various things, as we see below, especially Julie acting stressed
out so bizarre – ill? This feeling included the fact that I had
waited weeks, only to get one reply from one agent out of six
and a publisher I had written to – three weeks ago. Then on
Wednesday and today, the postman replied! Yesterday,
Wednesday came back my parcel sent to Piatkus, and a second
parcel from David Higham Associates – then today another
parcel from the Gunn Media Agency. All naturally politely said
‘no’. This afternoon, Thursday, having thought about it, I sent
this letter with my final book and poems – to the two chaplains
I knew at the QE2 who had been helpful: -

some months but the contents I only finalised, merging the two
books I originally gave you in November 2007 – on 28 th
