On Thursday I lent her my CD radio, as her daughter had taken
her hi-fi and moved into her new flat, and also left my armchair
outside her flat, ready to be varnished before she installed it in
the flat. Within a few days she had cleaned the fabric and
given the wood two coats of dark varnish, and put it in the flat
– her only comfortable chair!
The rest of that week was stressful but very quiet indeed,
according to my diary, apart from the umpteenth row after
trying to get even a penny out of my Scrooge of a father, who
simply fails totally to understand that income is no remedy for
a very negative bank balance that will always remain so without
a reasonable cash injection – which he totally refused to
provide out of his thousands gathering interest in the bank! I
cursed the way he must have persuaded Mum to leave him
everything, and not a penny outright to any of us offspring!
Monday 29 th October – Friday 2 nd November 2007.
From financial crisis – to more financial crisis in the middle of a
nightmare!
The first four days of the week were quiet like the last week. I
had failed to sell anything in Loot newspaper so phoned them
again and put in fresh adverts for Wednesday. I was to get no
replies, yet again, despite lowering the prices drastically. I
telephoned Debra at Zygon Journal in Chicago, Illinois, USA,
but they had still not received my paper. I had no money and
no ink to print off and post off another copy at this moment!
The day was very quiet and I recorded in my diary cooking a
cooked breakfast for Julie and I that night, using up spare food
as I had very little in stock. Tuesday I tried at length but failed
to persuade Barclayloan to give me any sort of loan at all. I
was well past my overdraft limit at the bank, could not draw
any more money out, and was skint! So I had £5 all day on
Wednesday 31 st and was smoking dog ends for the umpteenth
time recently!
