THERE is an exclusive shop in New
York which devotes its entire energies
in making furniture and accessories
for children. These accessories must not
be ordinary, for everything in the shop has
a "double meaning" to the child. Also
every article has a piece of poetry in
nursery rhyme fashion written on the back,
which is supposed to stimulate the frequent
use of all of the articles.
As an example, there is the little night
light which is made in the shape of a dog.
Electric lights are in his eyes and his name
is "Sherlock Holmes." This poetry is written
on his back:
There was little Tommy Tucker's dog,
And Old Dog Tray,
But this, our little Sherlock Holmes,
Keeps Bogey Man away.
