An Air-Driven
Motor Truck
Tin- aeroplane engine
has become so powerful
and so efficient
in the course of the
last year, that motor
truck manufacturers are considering
seriously the advisability ot driving
these bigtrucks with propellers similar
to those used on battleplanes. This
truck was equipped thus for purposes
of experiment, and proved that
a great deal of power can be developed
by the propeller method.
A Suitcase Laboratory
The Mellon Institute of Industrial Research
has devised a "suitcase" laboratory
for the use of laundrymen in testing
the materials that they use. With
it tin- laundryman is able to guard
against possible misrepresentation of
laundry materials by merchants. It
permits him to assure himself, without
the expense of a formal chemical analysis,
that everything used in his establishment
for cleansing goods is of a sort
that will do no harm to the goods entrusted
to him. Thus he can detect
and eliminate damaging impurities and
reduce to a minimum the wear of washing
other fabrics.
