A Nebraska Dogcyele
When Herman Rickert lost his left loot
in a switching accident, years ago, the
railroad gave him a place as crossing Han
man. Getting to work was a problem,
however, for riding a cycle up and down
the strep Grand Island grades was dif
ficult, when one leg only could be used
for pedalling. Tine, Mr. Rickert'sfaiih
ful dog, was called upon, therefore, to
furnish the necessary added motiw
power. Since that day the journey has
heen accomplished twice daily in the
manner shown in the above photograph.
Croquet sets nowadays are not mete
b.ilIs. mallets, wickets, and stake-.
Each piece has an individuality; some
of the faces are from Mother Goose,
while others remind one strongly of the
friends Little Ahce met in Looking
Glass Land. In this particular set we
surmise that the two stakes are images
of the Duchess,
