Even in electrically lighted
homes the luminous match box
would be a great convenience.
Some of our mad efforts to
locate a match quickly, knocking
over furniture, breaking
dishes, and running into open
doors, would be quite unnecessary
with this match box giving
its permanent and "costless"
light.

That there is nothing new
under the sun might be true
in a sense, but here is something
that is really new when
the sun has gone down. A
Chicago corporation has succeeded
in making, by some
mysterious process, some of
our most useful articles fully
as useful at night as they are
in the daytime. We can see
the time at night without
striking matches or turning
on the electricity, we can
find the pull-chain or switch
to our electric light without
groping around in a circle,
and even the match box itself
shines out with an intense
luminosity, and the darker it
is, the better one can see the
articles.
There is a small luminous bulb to attach to the pull
chain, if the electric lights are turned on that way.
The little bulb is permanently luminous, and like the
switch plate does not run up a meter for its permanent
light, because it charges itself in the daytime with
natural light.

This is a white plate made in
standard size to fit any pushbutton
switch plate and is
simply screwed on in place of
the old switch plate. One can
go directly to it and turn on the
room lights without any delay
or groping annoyance, and the
saving in soiled walls is also
considerable.
