opened, even for a few seconds would
cause a great deal of damage either to
the motor or to the cables. So, in order
to prevent such an occurrence two extra
switches or cut-outs are placed on the
tops of the doors themselves. The handles
of these are so arranged that they
strike an obstruction just as the doors
reach the end of their swing, either opening
or closing, which automatically
breaks whichever circuit is in action and
at the same time closes the break in the
other circuit, making it ready to be completed
by the switch in the hands of the
operator.
The system saves not only a great
number of steps but a large item of time
as well. It also serves to attract attention
to the garage. It gives no trouble
and the slight expense of upkeep in electric
current is more than offset by its
convenience.

NEW AUXILIARY SEAT
1_IERE is a new seat designed to fit
any convenient place in the automobile.
It is probably the most useful in
the five-passenger touring car, because it
is supported by a heavy T-hinge which
can be attached easily in the tonneau. It
is also practicable, however, for the runabout.

LET EVERYBODY SEE
}UEEGEES that clear away the rain
and snow from the wind-shield are
nothing new. The trouble with them is
that they are usually quite complicated
in their action, requiring swivels, nuts
and bolts which get loose and rattle. The
flat rubber that does the work gets out
of line and leaves streaks which are
harder to see through than the rain
drops. Then their scope is limited to
just enough of the wind-shield for the
driver to see through when he is looking
straight ahead. Nobody else in the car
can see through the shield and even the
driver must crane his neck to look at
objects not in the straight line ahead.
A new wind-shield cleaner fastens to
the glass-frame over the top by simply
slipping it on. It is composed of two
rubber covered prongs that hug the outside
surface of the shield. They curve
around over the top and down on the
inside forming a handle for operating
and a strong clamp to hold the whole
securely.
A TRAVELING CINEMA
A N Englishman, J. W. Abraham, of
^^ North London, has taken a Daimler
auto chassis and built on to it a complete
moving picture outfit. He has devoted
it to taking movies to the soldiers "somewhere
in France."
