DATENTS recently granted to a Pittsburgh
concern cover a new design of
parabolic reflector which gives a nonglare
beam without the dark center produced
by the ordinary spot-light, and at
the same time increases the efficiency of

the lamp and extends its
field of usefulness. The
new light embodying
this principle is called
the "Parabolite", and is
on sale in all large automobile
accessory
houses.
This construction produces
a beam that conforms
fully to all city
ordinances and State
laws, since nothing but
reflected rays are projected
and no direct
light from the bulk can
enter the eyes of opposing
drivers. Since all of
the light is confined
within the beam, the full power can be
used on a surface of defined area without
any glare beyond.

a Los Angeles concern. It consists
of a plunger, operated by a
key, engaged and disengaged
with the cogs of the gear case.
When the device is locked the
plunger is raised up and engaged with
the cogs. This locks the steering gear
and will not allow the car to be guided
to the right or to the left, leaving it free
to go straight forward or straight backward.
Of course it would be impossible
to steal a car under these handicaps.
