BULLET-PROOF ARMOR
FOR AMERICAN SOLDIERS
The Strength of His
Convictions
Dr. Guy Otis Brewster of
Dover, New Jersey, is the
inventor of this plate armor.
He also is the man behind
the steel in each of these
photographs. Dr. Brews
ter, in bringing: his invention
before the War Department,
advanced claims
to the effect that the armor
would stop or deflect service
bulletssatisfactorilyat adistance
of sixty feet or more.
To support his contention,
he volunteered to stand up
behind the armor and he
peppered by a sharpshooter
selected by the army officials.
The War Department
took him up, and conducted
the test as shown
here. So well did the armor
stand up under the rain of
bullets, that not even a
dent appeared in the plates.
Our soldiers who go to the
first line trenches abroad
may be equipped with this
protection.
