Seagulls are the worst enemies of submarines, and often they are not relished even by larger
vessels. In regard to the submersibles. however, they are particularly deadly, for the very life
of a submarine depends upon its ability to escape unseen, and gulls seem exceptionally perverse
on this score. They hover above the vessel, pointing it out to enemy destroyers.
HOW OUR BABIES WILL BE CARED FOR
Yes! We are coming to it! If the present war endures two years, most of our munitions factories
and many other industries will have to be run by women to allow men to go to the front. In this
event, institutions like the French day nursery for the children of working women will have to
be established in all of our big plants.
