A Clear Window^ for the Engineer
Effective means for keeping a locomotive cab window free
from frost and mist has been devised by Peter G. Olson,
of St. Paul, Minnesota. Perforated pipes are run up alongside
the window pane. The compressed air emanating
from these pipes, one of which is outside the window and
the other inside, prevents frost from accumulating. The
invention becomes an important safety device when the
engine is running through a storm.

A "Reverse" Warning
Because many pedestrians each year are
run down by cars suddenly thrown into
reverse gear by their drivers, this new
automatic warning signal should meet
an urgent need. The contrivance, invented
by a California girl, consistsof an
electric horn that is thrown into circuit
by a contact plate on the gear-shifting
lever. Whenever the chauffeur throws
the lever into reverse, the horn shrieks a
a warning to all who may be behind the
car.
