Script. Write your script using as many Send, Expect, SimpleExpect, and Flow Control<br />

keywords as you would like. For more information, see Script Syntax.<br />

Expect. Opens the Rules Expression editor. Whatever is placed in the Expression box<br />

appends to the end of the script as an Expect expression.<br />

Use in Rescan. Select this option to have the monitor appear in the Active Monitor list<br />

on the Device Properties dialog. <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> adds the monitor type to the device<br />

during a rescan, which is launched using the Rescan button on the Device Properties<br />

dialog, if the protocol or service is active on the device.<br />

5 Click OK to save changes.<br />

Types of TCPIP Monitors<br />

After configuring an active monitor in the Active Monitor Library, add the monitor to devices<br />

(on page 226).<br />

<strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> is installed with the following types of TCP/IP monitors already configured.<br />

Echo. Checks to make sure an Echo server is running on the assigned port.<br />

FTP. Checks to make sure an FTP server is running on the assigned port.<br />

HTTP. Checks to make sure an HTTP server is running on the assigned port.<br />

HTTPS. Checks to make sure the Secure HTTP server is running on the assigned port,<br />

and that <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> can negotiate a connection using SSL protocols. This monitor<br />

does not check on the validity of SSL certificates.<br />

HTTP Content Scan. Performs advanced monitoring of a specific web page to make<br />

sure specific content appears in the page's code. Supports advanced HTTP processes<br />

such as form submission and non-standard HTTP headers. For information on<br />

creating a basic HTTP Content Scan monitor, see New/Edit HTTP Content Monitor.<br />

IMAP4. Checks to make sure a IMAP4 server is running on the assigned port.<br />

NNTP. Checks to make sure a NNTP server is running on the assigned port.<br />

POP3. Checks to make sure a POP3 mail server is running on the assigned port.<br />

Radius. Checks to make sure a Radius server is running on the assigned port.<br />

SMTP. Checks to make sure a SMTP mail server is running on the assigned port.<br />

Time. Checks to make sure a Time server is running on the assigned port.<br />
