3 Type or select the appropriate information in the following fields.<br />

Name. Type a name for the action. This name displays in the Action Library.<br />

Description. Type a short description. This description displays next to the action in<br />

the Action Library.Specify the Source for the messages that are logged to the<br />

Windows Event Viewer. The default source is the <strong>Ipswitch</strong> <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Log Action.<br />

Source. The origin of messages logged to the Windows Event Viewer. The default<br />

source is the <strong>Ipswitch</strong> <strong>WhatsUp</strong> Log Action.<br />

Event ID. Type an event ID for the messages that are logged to the Windows Event<br />

Viewer. The default event ID is 1000, the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> engine event ID.<br />

Level. Select a level for messages logged to the Windows Event Viewer. You can<br />

select Error, Warning, or Information. The default level is Error.<br />

Log Message. Type a log message that displays in the Windows Event Viewer. This<br />

message supports percent variables. The default log message is:<br />

%Device.ActiveMonitorDownNames is %Device.State on %Device.Type:<br />

%Device.HostName (%Device.Address).<br />

Details:<br />

Monitors that are down include: %Device.ActiveMonitorDownNames<br />

Monitors that are up include: %Device.ActiveMonitorUpNames<br />

4 Click OK to save changes.<br />

Using the WinPopup Action<br />

The WinPopup Action displays a user-specified message in a pop-up window on a Windows<br />

NT system.<br />

To configure a WinPopup Action:<br />

1 Click the Admin tab, then click Action Library. The Action Library dialog appears.<br />

2 In the Action Library, do one of the following:<br />

Click New, then select WinPopup Action from the list. Click OK.<br />

- or -<br />

Select an existing WinPopup Action, then click Edit. The Action Properties page appears.<br />
