In addition to the pre-configured dynamic groups, we have provided several sample filters for<br />

you to create some very interesting dynamic groups.<br />

Using the Dynamic Group Rule Editor<br />

This is the second dialog of the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> Dynamic Group Builder. Use this dialog to<br />

create or edit rules for use in the SQL filter for the new group.<br />

Select the desired rule components from the list and enter in a variable in the empty field.<br />

This is a list of rule types available for use with the <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> Dynamic Group Builder.<br />

String rules<br />

Active monitor. Checksthe Active Monitors configured for a device found at Device<br />

Properties > Active Monitors.<br />

Device attribute. Checks for a device Attribute name that matches the criteria<br />

entered in Attribute value. Device attributes are configured on the Device<br />

Properties > Attributes dialog.<br />

Display name. Checks the Display name field found at Device Properties > General.<br />

IP address. Checks the IP address field found at Device Properties > General. Also<br />

checks any additional network interface in the Additional Network Interfaces dialog.<br />

Host name. Checks the Host name field found at Device Properties > General. Also<br />

checks any additional network interface in the Additional Network Interfaces dialog.<br />

Device type. Checks the Device type field found at Device Properties > General.<br />

SNMP OID. Checks the SNMP OID field found at Device Properties > Credentials.<br />

You can choose from six search criteria for the string rule types:<br />
