Device Summary<br />

Device Limit. Lists the number of devices that <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> is licensed to manage.<br />

Existing Devices. Lists the number of devices that <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> is monitoring.<br />

Discovered Devices. Lists the number of devices discovered in the current scan.<br />

Network Traffic<br />

SNMP Bytes (in/out). Indicates the amount of SNMP data <strong>WhatsUp</strong> <strong>Gold</strong> has sent<br />

and received in the current discovery process.<br />

PDU (Protocol Data Unit) (in/out). Indicates the amount of data sent and received<br />

among peer network devices during the discovery process.<br />

Scanned. Indicates the number of devices scanned and the total number of devices<br />

to be scanned.<br />

Session Metrics<br />

Scan Start. Indicates the time the discovery started.<br />

Scan End. Indicates the time the discovery ended.<br />

Elapsed Time. Indicates the time the discovery took to complete.<br />

Session Settings<br />

Scan Type. Indicates the current discovery method used in the current network scan.<br />

Layer 2 scan. Indicates whether Layer 2 discovery was enabled for the discovery scan.<br />

SNMP Credentials. Indicates the number of devices that were discovered with SNMP<br />

credentials.<br />

Windows Credentials. Indicates the number of devices that were discovered with<br />

WMI credentials.<br />

VMWare Credentials. Indicates the number of devices that were discovered with<br />

VMware credentials.<br />

Viewing device discovery information<br />

After the discovery settings are configured and you start a discovery session, the Devices<br />

Discovered section on the right side of the Discovery Console displays the progress and<br />

results of the discovery scan. Information and the status of each device discovery appears as<br />

follows:<br />

Host Name. Lists the the discovered device name by IP address or name.<br />

Address. Lists the discovered device IP address.<br />

Brand. Lists the device hardware manufacturer. The brand information helps narrow<br />

the discovery criteria to identify product model information.<br />

Model. Lists the device manufacturer model. The model information helps further<br />

refine the discovery criteria to help identify the device role.<br />

Operating System. Lists the operating system the device is running.<br />
